Naked Droids and Dust:

I know this is a widely discussed topic, but I couldn't find anything to decisive in terms of numbers. I'd love to be able to use this device without any case in my pocket, but I'd like to do some risk analysis first: For the naked droid users, do you have dust/lint under your screen?

I've had mine for about a week so far, naked in pocket the whole time, no dust/lint under the screen so far.

I'd not want to put it in my pocket... I think you're asking for it... I'm using w/o a case (have a zagg screen cover) but I use a holster. Seidio makes a nice one with magnetic closure that doesn't cause issues with putting the Droid into dock mode.

I have carried my droid caseless since launch. With 0 lint under the screen, and i have very linty pockets.

I never have dust or lint issues. I don’t use any covers or armor. I do wipe my Droid down frequently tho. In addition, my Droid seems much more durable than previous phones I’ve owned. I came from the BB Curve.

I don't think a screen protector will help with dust under the screen. I just pulled my zagg protector off this morning. Had little chunks of dust stuck to the outside of it. Looked like they were embedded into it. Didn't like it anyway, too tacky.

You could always put a plastic sandwich bag in your pocket and put your phone in there.

the one i bought on launch day got tons of lint in the screen about 15-20 days later.
Returned it for a new one, got a loose screen. So i returned that one and now I have a seemingly perfect device. Its been only 3 days though. Time will tell...

I have been carrying the droid in my pocket with nothing but a screen protector on it since the release date. With the exception of a 5 foot drop onto my driveway that caused a little scratch on the corner, it still looks as good as it did when I opened the box.

Highly considering it. Although, I've been reading reviews about this innocase by Seidio and it looks pretty nice. Seems really thin.

i kept my first one in my pocket, got some lint. returned it for a new version and keep it in a ATT holster and its just fine.

TL;DR: First droid had dust, got it replaced. After two weeks the new one is dust free and awesome.

My first droid had dust under the screen after the first three weeks of it being in my pocket.

Got a new Droid two weeks ago, and so far so good, but I've been much more careful with this one. Whenever I'm sitting somewhere (like at my desk, or when I'm driving) for an extended amount of time I remove the phone from my pocket. I've noticed some dust starting to accumulate in the speaker, so I'm tempted to use a small keyboard vacuum cleaner to try and clean it out.

Time will tell.

throwing into the mix: very linty pockets here, naked droid since morning of the launch, always in my top left pocket, no dust yet.

LOTS of lint / dust under my screen. When I was using the clear plastic case sold to me by Verizon, I'd see a lot of lint stuck between the case and the phone. I have since removed the case but the lint problem only seems to be getting worse.

It started at the lower right hand corner and now is spreading across to the upper left hand corner. Soon I suspect the entire screen will be covered.

Fortunately it is obvious only when the screen is off. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I brought the phone back to the Verizon store and was told, "Dust is not covered under the warranty."

I am not sure why the screen cannot be properly sealed....

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, except my dust is migrating from the upper left hand corner. It ain't pocket lint, though (phone stays in the pocket of a suit jacket almost exclusively); who knows.

And yeah, I don't even notice it anymore unless the screen is off and there are bright lights on it.

Looking forward to a dust-removal tutorial (unlikely) or a mea culpa from Motorola (a guy can dream, right?).
