Playing itunes music on my Nexus

I have downloaded Double Twist onto my computer and have been using it to download some of my extensive playlists to my Nexus. My son watched me doing it yesterday and it took absolutely ages. He uses a iphone so looks down his nose at my Nexus anyway, but he did say that there should be an application out there that will just read my Itunes library and sync it to my phone. Not sure what it all means, but can anyone help me/recommend anything? Or is my Double Twist the correct thing to be using anyway?

There's no way to directly sync the N1 with iTunes. That's just about the only thing that I wish the phone was able to do but can't. I haven't found a solution that I like. Some people hate iTunes so they use other alternatives like Double Twist or WinAmp. I like iTunes because I have numerous iPods and an iPad. I just prefer the N1 to an iPhone.

I purchased iSyncr and I'm not sure if Double Twist was a purchased app but I have both and use iSyncr exclusively. My complete iTunes library occupies a lot of space so naturally I have a smaller set of playlists(in genres) for my lower capacity ipods and MP3 devices.

ISyncr works by synching your selected iTunes playlists with your phones SD card. I attach my N1 to my MacBook, look into the SD card, find the iSyncr file and double click to open. Window opens up with a list of all your itunes playlists, check the playlists you want and it will calculate available space on your SD card with what you selected(I don't quite remember the details). Click on sync(?) and it takes care of everything automatically. Eject USB device and all is well after the phone and media players rescans the SD card

To be honest, I haven't looked into any other itunes/MP3 syncing app for months so I'm not sure if there's an easier or better yet, a free app that works just as easily. I'm pretty content with iSyncr, nothing flashy, just a simple and easy to use syncing app.

Salling Media Sync does free and paid versions of their syncing software for Windows and Mac. It syncs by iTunes playlist; note paid is faster than free.

Thanks guys! Will into both of those. I think itunes is the one thing I really miss. It is just so easy and QUICK to sync my nano with itunes, both for new music AND radio podcasts. Google Listen is driving me mad! I can't get it to sync and Google reader is hopeless, it stops every other sentence and eventually gives up all together! I have to admit to ending up carrying my Nexus AND my nano round with me much to my son's delight! He waves his iphone at me and tells me how easy it is!!!

Blast him. I am determined to be vindicated eventually with my beloved Nellie Nexus! (How sad is that, to NAME one's bloody phone!)

My wife tried for HOURS upon HOURS to get stuff to work and iSyncr was the ONLY one that worked.

When iSyncr syncs the playlist does it add the files again to your phone or does it work off the files that are already on your phone? I think I tried iSyncr before and when I tried using the program it added the music files to my phone again, eating up a lot of space. Was I doing something wrong?

It's never done that to me during all the sync's I've performed since the initial install back in June. When you click 'sync', the individual song/artist listing starts scrolling down really fast and the already existing song files shows up with an "already exists" after the song name and just skips it. When it encounters a new song, it will transfer the file to the SD card. If it comes across an iTunes purchased song with DRM, it will come up with something about it not being transferred as it cannot be played. Keep that in mind, I'm no pro on DRM but the several iTunes purchased songs that I own could not be played in my N1.

Anyway, back to the sync scroll. It only downloads or removes the new or deleted files and leaves the existing/selected files alone to the best of my knowledge

Well I've downloaded iSyncr and it works really well so many thanks for that. Much faster and easier than Double Twist. It didn't reload my music, just downloaded the playlists and used the files already there. It also downloaded my podcasts really easily and quickly!

I think it has loaded my DRM protected music as well but it was Double Twist that extracted those files from iTunes I think so it may well be worth me keeping DT just for that purpose.

I used Double Twist for a bit but a lot of my iTunes stuff still have DRM which meant a lot of the music wouldn't port to the N1. Gone back to my (horrible) iPod Touch for now.

Is there a work around this yet? I know it's an Android problem...
