I'm sick and tired of the notion that if I want a functioning gps, I should buy a gps device and not expect the one on my phone to work or rely on it.

So what if the camera didn't work? Should I buy a camera and not complain?

What if the Internet didn't work? Ahhhh just use your laptop you crybaby.

What if the music player stopped working? Buy an MP3 player you whiner.

And if texting doesn't work, I should stop complaining and get a pager. Right?

And I should also get a PDA.

I guess if the phone itself stops working, I should shut the F up and get a landline.

Come on guys, this is a device with an advertised set of features. I expect every last one of them to work. There's nothing unreasonable about that.

thanks for another thread on how you are unhappy with your phone, this forum was obviously missing these kinds of posts, you really contributed a lot.

I don't read it as a post about being unhappy with the phone. I read it as a post of being unhappy with the folks that are not sympathetic with the plight of people who count on the phone for GPS.

I agree with the poster, by the way.

It seems this forum is full of whiners, whining about the whiners that whine about the GPS. And when we whine about that, they whine that we whined. :p

If this is a post that a mod should be informed of, then Next thing there may be a rule: Don't whine, and don't post your opinion.

If people like you left comments with any bit of perfectly justified and factually-supported negativity alone, without feeling the need to "contribute" with nothing helpful and on subject, there would be fewer threads like this. Do not you think?

All the features on my phone have been working ok. I just felt like whining about the fact that it still can't make me Mac&Cheese. What's the point in all this new technology if it can't manage a simple task like that, anyway? Am I supposed to just keep cooking it myself? What the hell, Samsung?

Was the making of mac & cheese an advertised feature of the phone?

I wasn't in any way mentioning or arguing that his beliefs are unjustified, but that there are soo many threads that have the same information in them, we don't need a new one every few minutes.

Upon re-reading the fact that he wasn't complaining about his phone as much as people complaining about him complaining about his phone, i guess its a newish thought. it was just an opinion though, these boards lately have nothing constructive in them though. its just post after post about how samsung sucks, they never update (then they do) then the update is not good enough, etc.

i guess this thread was not exactly about that so my reply may have been a bit out of place (not too far though)

it just seems that 90% of the people who own this phone hate it, and it confuses me

I think a lot of the whining is coming from the "I should have bought an iPhone 4" where the GPS works great.

Maybe, but in general, everyone has a tendency to complain when their expectations are not met. Some more-so than others. And unfortunately, it seems that if people are reading a flame post, and they too are unhappy, they can just get caught up in the rancor. I think maybe they call it 'herd mentality'. ;)

And that same herd mentality is in place for those who whine about the whiners. Its becoming comical, if not irritating, from all angles. I've seen so many posts on this forum about "Wrong thread', "Wrong topic"; blah blah blah. And you can't just not read it, because it is in almost every thread, it seems, (at least every thread related to GPS).

Yes, as if iPhone4 didn't have any serious issues. I guess they should have bought iPhone4 and gotten the free case later.

I had the captivate, it was ok. But filled with issues - I did a post on it about 5 or so weeks ago. I had never had a smart phone, and it was great. Filled with issues, but otherwise great. I exchanged it for a boring iphone 4. I don't know what issues exist with the iphone other than the grip of death (which incidentally was on my list of issues with the captivate).

Anyway, I have had nothing short of flawless function from the iphone 4 (not a fan boy, I have an ipod, but otherwise never had any other apple things - other family members have ipods too).

Yes, I can't get widgets, yes I can't have really cool wallpaper - but in the end (no offense to those who prefer the look thing over the function thing), I have a product that works.

If I could have been assured that this would have been the case with the Captivate, I would have stuck with it - it was not the case, and from my continued reading here - it is not the case, still.

The free bumper - whoopee - at least it corrects a problem that some are having - if a bumper fixed the GPS don't you think that Samsung would do the exact same thing?

Running the Cognition Rom, my phone now does wash windows.

It does not however walk the cat.

A pity, really. What kind of ROM/phone/device won't take the cat for a walk?!?

As I stated above, I'm glad that people are willing to point out the deficiencies in a product. It doesn't do the community any good to hide/ignore problems. If I were a Captivate owner I would encourage others to bitch up a storm as well. If they fear people will not purchase future products, maybe it will light a fire under Samsung's ass to fix the problem.

everyone has a tendency to complain when their expectations are not met. Some more-so than others.

Silly us.. we buy a product, sign a contract, and then have the audacity to expect that our expectations are met (i.e. the seller's promise of delivering a functioning product is fulfilled).

What a bunch of crybabies! What a ridiculous sense of entitlement! We should just pay our hard-earned money and sign contracts and just expect the other side to SCREW US, and then keep our mouths shut about it.

:D ... Seem some think it should go like that, huh...
