Glad I got the Hacked 2.2 versus the OTA!

All i keep hearing about is issue after issue with the OTA.
then on top of that, u cant go back to a leaked version (yet..right?).
is it any good news for those that got the OTA??

I got the OTA and have NO issues. It fact, my experience is MUCH improved from 2.1. I'd imagine this is the case for the vast majority of users. However, you don't have people posting "no issues for me" very often for no reason. It's those that DO have issues that are more vocal and post a lot since they're the ones who want to find a solution (and understandably so, it's just the nature of the beast). But I'm glad I got the OTA to 2.2. Faster, some improved functionality and interfaces, etc. But mostly just smoother all around which is the real improvement.

Yeah the updated bootloader is enough for me togo screaming and running in the other direction from the OTA. I think alot of the issues that people are having with the OTA could be solved with factory resetting before they accept the OTA. Frisco had a great thread in the Eris section about the benefits. If and when I ever accept an OTA update again, I will FR for sure before I do.

I think you are partially right. I would say 80-85 percent of the people with the OTA are blissfully ignorant of any issues if they even exist. Most of people here tend to use more features of the phones and as such would notice more issues than your standard users. Its like if you've never worked in a restaurant before and you get ok service you would probably never notice. But having served for 5+ years, I notice when I haven't been greated in 2 minutes or if it takes longer than 10 minutes to get my appetizer.

OTA 2.3.15 rooted and deodexed with no problems whatsoever. I'm not really worried about not being able to downgrade as I have no intention of doing so anytime soon. I'm not doing any really risky customizations. At least, none that I can't come back from at this point. The current partial 2.2 SBF can bring me back from a failed deodex, (I think) but the process went fine for me, so I doubt I'll even be needing that. I'm not going to bother trying to downgrade to 2.1 or the leaked 2.2, so if I really mess things up, I can still always use my Clockwork backup, right?

I was on the leaked 2.2 and was loving it, but wanted to get the OTA 2.2 so I would get future updates as well. So I went back to 2.1 updated to the 2.2 OTA and have not had one issue at all. I did not update from the leaked to the other versions that came out after that. I have my 2.2 OTA rooted and everything seems to be running as well if not a little better for me that the leaked 2.2.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the leaked version does NOT have the improved radio for better prhone reception.. which is why I went with OTA and rooted that. I'll deodex as soon as I learn enough to do that without issue.

I've also not been able to get a confirm at all that Team Black Hat has a rooted deodexed OTA rom available.. it sound like they only have the leaked version available, and I wanted our phones here to have the fastest and strongest signals possible.
