White Evo 4G discontinued?

hey guys i pre ordered a white evo 4g from best buy about 2 weeks ago, and i usually call every thursday to check up on it...well after calling best buy yesterday i spoke to a rep that told me the white evos are discontinued...i then went on to bestbuy.com to check for myself and i guess hes right because its not listed on the website here in NY????..can anyone shed some light on this for me? thanks fellas...

Not sure... it was a BestBuy exclusive when it launched... maybe they just lost the exclusivity or something. If I were you, I'd get a black one and then you'll still have 30days to hunt down a white one (exchange it if within 30days). At least then youll have something nice to use in the meantime.

update: i just spoke to best buy and it is not true they are not discontinued its just there is a shortage of the white evos so they took it off the website. hope this helps anyone who wants white evo.

I have also waited on a white evo for two weeks. In fact, i signed up on the waiting list at 2 BBs in my area - one for the black and one for white. I noticed that the white one disappeared from their website on Tuesday (through Change Detection's website), so I concluded that it was discontinued. So, I ended up ordering a black one from BBs website on Tuesday (they were back in stock at the same time the white one disappeared) and I had it in my hands yesterday (overnight shipping only costs $5).

I bought a white case and I am loving the Evo! I figured if they call me about the white one being in stock, I can always exchange it. But I probably won't because I like the look of the white Evo, but I do not like the glossy feel of the phone.

It took me roughly three weeks to get my white EVO from Best Buy (ordered in the middle of August), just FYI.

I wanted a white EVO too, but after comparing them side by side...the white battery cover is too sleek and shiny for me. It was very smooth plastic rather than the textured rubbery-feel given by the black EVO's plastic.

Or course, this was before I decided to get a case for it...so that almost nullifies this objection to the white.

I also may upgrade to a 3000 mah battery...which would then nullify this battery cover as well...

I just spoke with a BB customer service agent online, asking him which BB's in the NYC area had the White Evo's in stock. He then proceeded to inform me that they are discontinued because they were a promotional item. Now I'm not sure how much stock to put in that because the release date was moved up, but seeing as it was exclusive to BB anything's possible. However it does say not in stock and unavailable for pick up on the website, as of tonight, for what it's worth.

When I purchased mine this weekend at Sprint, the guy giggled when I asked for a white one. He said they're impossible to get now. He didn't mention a discontinue. He only said their store hadn't seen a white one in months.

It's just a back cover, I hate my white evo, the extended battery/case looks dumb on it. I hope I can scratch the white paint off to reveal red paint....may try it today.

I read that you can take a straight razor and take it the paint off to reveal the red if you want.

Supposedly they will begin producing the white Evo next year when they fix the Overheating issue. Until then we have to order the black Evo.

As for your issue, I wonder whose ultimately to blame? HTC? Is HTC not ready to play with the big boys yet? Seems like they can't handle a seat at the adult table. Pretty sure there should always be a working EVO/widget on the shelf at all times.

Hmmm, that seems strange. Only time my phone has "overheated" was on hot days in L.A. when my dock was on the dash and I had the EVO plugged into the dock. Other than that, it's never had any "overheating" issues while not plugged in.

Just today I picked up a replacement evo cuz mine was freezing alot and restarting and we took it to a Sprint store not a Best Buy and they said it would take a few days. Well I went to pick it up today and it was a white evo! I really like it actually but to answer the question I dont think its discontinued but idk if getting it thru Sprint has anything to do with it and which I thought white evos were just thru Best Buy but Im not complaing

When I went and got an EVO this weekend, I asked about the white version for my wife and I was met with a hearty laugh. The rep said they just got an internal email that morning saying all the white EVOs are "in the Bermuda Triangle" and said if she wanted a white EVO, get a black one and buy a white case. Apparently they're way understocked or having problems with manufacturing..kinda like that fabled white IPhone.
