So I returned my Eris today. The battery issues had been pretty much contained...I could get a full day out of a charge, but the lag was terrible. I had it all over the place despite running task killer, spare parts, clearing cache, etc.

Then the phone started to get wacky. It would freeze with black screens when switching to home. Sometimes when going to home, I would get a black screen with an HTC logo displayed for about 20 seconds, then it would show Sense UI loading for about 10 seconds (dimmed picture, loading logo, no applications). Also, I would have periods where I could not switch between screens.

The dialer was ridiculously laggy as well. I would press end, and the phone wouldn't end for about 5 seconds. Dialing the phone sometimes I would have a 1-2 second delay when pressing buttons.

I had enough. So I returned it.

For a new Eris! ;)

My account is still noted, and if the phone isn't stellar after the upgrades this weekend, I can still return it. However I think it will be. The new phone has about 70% of my apps loaded on it, but it is still much improved in terms of speed. NO lag whatsoever!

We'll see how it holds up.

As a bonus, they must have used my old battery, because when I got home and opened the box, the battery for the new phone was sitting in there. WOOT!

Yup, the dialer is awful. It lags so much that it gets very frustrating to use. I would consider it a defective feature of the phone.

As for sense ui loading again, its because YOU were killing the process to begin with.

1) The dialer has no lag on my new phone. ZERO. It was terrible on my old phone. Now when I dial, I can get the DTMF tones to come out in a single stream that's how quickly I can dial.

2) It would re-load when just switching to the home screen. Not when using ATM, NEVER had an issue when using ATM, as it was excluded.

Don't be such a dumbass. You do not know everything everyone does so stop assuming you do.

If you hate the phone so much why don't you just return it and wait for the passion instead of complaining about it in every single thread. No one forced you to buy it and no one is forcing you to keep it. Move on

:D Hell Yeah Happy Again Just swapped my Eris having this one really shows me how bad the first one was. Even the box was crisp and new the girl that helped me made sure she pulled a good one out. I could tell as soon as i entered my gmail information that this one was good. Guess i can just sit back and wait for the January Update to 2.X.

Excellent.

So an update:

When I got the phone yesterday around 3:00, i charged it up to about 80% via the car charger on the way home. Once home, I started loading all my old apps in and re-setting all the customization. Decided to let it run down all the way (I have the old phone battery, but wanted to make sure the meter was calibrated, if need be).

So I turned it all on. Bluetooth. WiFi. GPS. Constant on mobile network. I worked on it quite a bit last night.

In inadvertently turned the Bluetooth last night when I went to bed last night. Left the phone on all night.

This morning, I used the phone quite a bit. I was on a mission to run it down, so I made sure it was all back on, downloaded apps, used the internet, streamed about 20 minutes of YouTube videos, you name it.

Phone just died at 2:15.

If I get that much life out of it, and get more with the GPS turned off, I will be very happy!
