Evo "Bluetooth voice dialing"

Ok, I just purchased an EVO ver. 003 from Bestbuy few days ago. My previous phone was a Samsung Instinct. EVO blows the instinct away in
everything but voice dialing. I live in Washington State and its law here that you have to use a hands free device while driving. I do have to say that the default voice dialing via bluetooth sucks! I have a Jawbone Icon and on my Instinct (After voice training) I could say "Call dad mobile 1" and it would say "Did you say.. Call dad mobile 1" Then you would have a confirm of "yes" or "no". It was like 90% accurate the first time and if you didn't get it right you could say no and start over again.

The Evo absolutely sucks in voice dialing via bluetooth. You can't train it and you dont even get a confirmation after. You can end up calling some old girlfriend you haven't talked to in years before you can hit cancel. lol!

So my question is why does the voice dialing suck on a $500 phone. And if so, is there some sort of Android app out that that will actually work with voice confirmation via bluetooth voice dialing.

Thanks!

personally i like the voice dialing, i used to have a phone that made you confirm and train it, and it was sooo annoying to me, i like to be able to hit the talk key on my headset, tell me to speak now, and then say it, and it dials it, and the voice dial is pretty darn accurate, my suggestion is that your on the other side of the fence now, try it out and see if the grass is greener, as i dont know of any other voice dial programs, search in the market a bit, its worth a shot!

The voice dialing sucks and did on 2.1 as well. It never gets it right. Interesting thing is the voice to text works great. There have been a few threads/posts about this but haven't seen a solution. A buddy got a droidx and has the same issue so it's not manufacturer/carrier specific. I'd love to have it working.

try using Vlingo, it's still technically in beta but works well so far and can only get better.

I was just playing with Vlingo and it seems that it picks up your voice only through the phone's mic and not through the BT headset. Once it's found the contact, you have to touch the selection to initiate the call (i.e. no voice confirmation via BT). So, two glances at the screen and two touches are required to make a call.

The stock Voice Search/Google Search also require two touches, but on my phone, these find search results more quickly than Vlingo.

I add people I call frequently to the VIP widget and use that to one-touch call when I'm driving. But I can see that that wouldn't be helpful to you if you have more than a few VIPs.

Hey all thanks for the replies. I tried Vlingo and its only a little better than the default android 2.2 voice dialing app. Plus no voice confirmations. I just don't understand how a $500 phone doesn't have a better voice dialing via bluetooth capability. My samsung instinct worked perfect in the car with my jawbone Icon. I had no problem calling anyone on my contact list, and it always confirmed everything. So I had 100% sucess rate. Because if it didn't work maybe 5 or 10 percent of the time It would ask me "Do you want to try again" and you would simply say "yes" and try again. The Evo absolutely sucks at voicedial via BT. No confirmation and it barely gets it right 50% of the time. Dumb thing says
"Speak now" lol thats it! The phone rocks at everything else. (except battery life lol turning on 4G kills the battery in no time flat lucky I get 4 hrs out of it).

They need to seriously address the voice dialing via BT feature. I feel they are going to lose alot of people who just plain require this feature. I own a courier business and I simply cannot live without this feature.

FIX IT!
