Can't find the youtube app in the market

This can't be true since he has a desire with I presume Android 2.2?

Free apps are also available in Belgium.

Maybe try clearing Market cache and try again

yeah, paid and free apps are all available here in Belgium
And like you said I'm using stock froyo 2.2 (no roms and not rooted)

I tried to clear cache and data, still got no youtube app showing up.

Install it directly via appbrain, you can do that via the website or from the app now.

I've tried installing it via appbrain, but it redirects me to the android market and then I get a messagebox telling me that it can't be found in the market.

EDIT: I've installed the "Fast web installer" from appbrain.
I now installed it and it works great. BUT I still can't see it in the market. I can't find it in my downloads section nor can I find it with the search funtion.

It's quite weird that it did install but that I can't see it anywere in the market.

it replaces the stock youtube app on the phone, so it may not show in your downloads section.

I have an EVO with Froyo.

The new Youtube app shows up in my downloaded apps. If you click on it, the option there says Uninstall Updates. The other apps say Uninstall...with the implication that it will be fully removed.

I figure you will be left with the stock youtube app if you uninstall updates.
