Well I took my ally back to best buy today and picked up a droid 2. I'm very happy and so glad I did. The display is a lot better and I can do so much more. Time to ruin it and go root
Ohhh...sorry. I'm gonna have to be brutally honest here and let you know you made the wrong choice. Droid 2? That phone is so slow and laggy. You should've bought my droid eris i have for sale. Smokes the droid 2 in every way.
/I know this is the internet but someone's sarcasm detector had to have exploded just now
I just had to pay the difference, which was $150, since my Ally cost me $50 and the D2 was $200.
And as far as it being slow and laggy, everyone has their own likes/disklikes about something, but so far I haven't put my phone down yet and its lightning fast, everytime I touch a button it does it right then. I've yet to encounter any lag.
I"m debating between Ally and Droid 2 now, and now that they are very similar in pricing I"m having a harder time choosing. How is Flash on Droid 2? I like designing stuff in Flash and I'm curious about exploring that more on a mobile level, I'm not sure if just flash is worth it though . . .

the Ally is not a very good phone when you compare it to a D2
Ally specs 600MHz processor droid 2 is 1000MHz
ally only has 512MB internal memory droid 2 has 8GB
ally has 3.2 camera droid 2 has 5
ally is a 3.2" screen droid 2 is 3.7"
just looking a specs the D2 wins hands down
and when you ROOT the D2 take out the crap ware and OC to 1400MHz
nothing beats a droid 2

The LG Ally is at the extreme LOW END of the Android phone spectrum. It doesn't have Foyo 2.2 and might never get it Flash. The lack of internal storage means you'll only be able to load maybe 30 or so applications before you run out of space (and if 30 apps sounds like a lot to you, then you haven't used Android yet).
I really don't understand how this is even a choice, at ANY price.
Its an alright phone once you get used too it. me and some devs are working with the ally so far its got custom roms, oc to 787 and a2sd. working on froyo. not saying the ally is great but its not terrible. good keyboard. still prefer my d2 though
i have the ally and its the worst smartphone you can get for verizon. i want to switch to the droid 2 but the only thing im worried about is the keyboard but im sure ill get used to it
