Dear LG,
I really hope this delayed release of Froyo means you're putting the same UI on the Ally's as your upcoming LG Optimus. The one released with the LG Ally is awful.
Also, why void the warranty if rooted? It's not like someone that knows how to root a phone can undo it before sending it to you for warranty reasons. Accept the fact that android phones get rooted, and save us the extra step of reflashing our phones when something goes astray.

Dear LG,
I hate the way you handled this phone from the start. you released this phone after the droid, nexus one ect... ect... yet ell of these phones have android 2.2 on them and you haven't done the same. come on at least cover your product support for at least a year. Im beginning to feel like the ally is your abused redheaded stepchild. Come on LG Don't BEAT your child!

Dear LG,

Pay no attention to people who think they Android UI is awful, yet bought the Ally knowing it was an Android phone.

If a customer who rooted their phone returns a phone for warranty repair, but was unable to unroot it due to the nature of the required repair, do what you must.

Pay no attention to people who buy phones based on rumors of future updates.

The Ally keyboard makes me (a Droid owner) jealous, as does the spring-loaded slider mechanism.

Stop loading up your phones with bloatware.

Dear LG,

If Android enthusiasts can develop custom ROMs that make the Ally perform like a champ, maybe you should consider canning your current devs and hiring some people with some skillz. I'm JUST SAYING...

However, yes, the keyboard is nice.

(PS) Try checking out Android Forums under the All Things Root section for Ally if you need any suggestions. Thanks!

Dear LG,

Please hire some developers with some skills, as netizenmt says. There are an epic crap-ton of apps preloaded with this already-bogged-down, underpowered phone, that don't need to be there. An underpowered phone performs best when it doesn't have 20 crap-tons of junk running in the background competing for CPU time and memory.

Also, fix these bugs. The camera is nice but the camera software and gallery sucks big time. Hence "buggy software" and "hire developers that can develop".

And show me my dang battery percentage somewhere I can view it any time I want. It's stupid to have to plug in the charger to see what my battery's at. Come on.

But thanks for the hardware keyboard and intuitive button arrangement. <3.

Thanks,
- FalconFour

BattStatt is a great app that shows your percentage in a customizable 1x1 2x1 or 4x1 widgit.

Dear LG,

Please hurry up and give us Froyo. I am sick and tired of having to throw my phone into airplane mode every single morning. Also, the Ally is the only LG Android phone currently being sold by Verizon. I think you really should show us more love for representin'.

Sincerely,
Math

I once tried battery monitor app in my Ally to be able to watch the battery level quickly. But I noticed it drains battery life a little faster than without it. So I removed it as I would rather have longer life than the convenience of watching it!
Did any experience similar issue with battery monitor kind of app? I didn't try BattStatt yet, but I'm reluctant to try it until someone assures me it doesn't hurt battery life. I'm also anxiously waiting for 2.2 froyo update on Ally, hoping it manages memory, battery better.

Dear Ally Owners,

Get over Froyo! Here are the popular features 2.2 has to offer:

Portable Hotspot:
With Custom Roms we have had the ability to make wifi hotspots for months now, no need for Froyo

Multi Language Keyboard:
Velocity had the D2 Multitouch keyboard, which supports tons of different languages. There are also a lot of alternative keyboards available.

Improved Performance:
Froyo offers 2 performance boosts, one being better compilation of Dalvik using JIT compilation. Thanks to Drellisdee, we have fully functioning JIT for our Dalvik VM. The other performance boost is an improved kernel, and thanks to Drellisdee again, we have Turbo.

Launcher:
With so many Home replacement apps on the market a good amount of people dont use the stock launcher anyhow, the 2.2 launcher only boasts cosmetic changes anyway.

Battery:
ALL ANDROID PHONES HAVE CRAP FOR BATTERY LIFE! 2.2, 2.1, 1.6, ALL OF THEM!

In all the Ally Does NOT need 2.2, we have everything we need though Custom Roms with 2.1. 2.2 would bring more bloatware, a slower UI, and a world of headaches. I am getting annoyed with every Ally users obsession with getting 2.2, I used to be there myself but after doing some research I have found that LG and Verizon are making the right call by NOT bringing 2.2 to the Ally. The phone has barely enough resources to support 2.1 even after countless hours of optimizing and slimming, the custom roms are still not as quick as they should be IMO, Instead of trying to get froyo, maybe we should think about sitting back with a donut or sticking with the eclair

Dear LG,

Its a nice device with a great keyboard.... Needs 2.2 and better battery life... Couldnt wait any longer and jump ship back to Droid... Sorry!

Im gonna have to say thats incorrect, plus you listed versions and not devices... My Droid gets two days with regular use and the Eris came in second... Compared to semi-smartphones its not as great, but when compared to similar Smartphones (HTC Touch Pro II, Imagio) a couple Android ones stand out...
