Dear Ally Owners,
Get over Froyo! Here are the popular features 2.2 has to offer:
Portable Hotspot:
With Custom Roms we have had the ability to make wifi hotspots for months now, no need for Froyo
Multi Language Keyboard:
Velocity had the D2 Multitouch keyboard, which supports tons of different languages. There are also a lot of alternative keyboards available.
Improved Performance:
Froyo offers 2 performance boosts, one being better compilation of Dalvik using JIT compilation. Thanks to Drellisdee, we have fully functioning JIT for our Dalvik VM. The other performance boost is an improved kernel, and thanks to Drellisdee again, we have Turbo.
Launcher:
With so many Home replacement apps on the market a good amount of people dont use the stock launcher anyhow, the 2.2 launcher only boasts cosmetic changes anyway.
Battery:
ALL ANDROID PHONES HAVE CRAP FOR BATTERY LIFE! 2.2, 2.1, 1.6, ALL OF THEM!
In all the Ally Does NOT need 2.2, we have everything we need though Custom Roms with 2.1. 2.2 would bring more bloatware, a slower UI, and a world of headaches. I am getting annoyed with every Ally users obsession with getting 2.2, I used to be there myself but after doing some research I have found that LG and Verizon are making the right call by NOT bringing 2.2 to the Ally. The phone has barely enough resources to support 2.1 even after countless hours of optimizing and slimming, the custom roms are still not as quick as they should be IMO, Instead of trying to get froyo, maybe we should think about sitting back with a donut or sticking with the eclair
