Just purchased the X10 a few weeks ago. First phone ever with Apps and such so I absolutely love what I have seen so far. Not teckie at all so bear with this thread. Barring going to the class offered by my carrier with the sales rep, I would like to know a few things that I am certain will lead to other questions on how to get the most from this phone. I asking that all experienced users, HELP ME BUILD THE BEST...
1) Does it have a flash on the camera or just the light you can turn on each time you need it to take a picture?
2) What's the best bluetooth headset to get as far and sincing and clarity with a modest price tag?
3) currently have 2 app killers on the phone. Which one is best? Advanced Task Killer doesnt seem to find as many as Task Killer Pro.
4) Why do the task killers find apps that i haven't even opened, running in the background? This kills battery life and there must be a way to shut these off.

Thats it for now. Suspect more questions as the thread builds. Thanks!

I'll dip in on your first question, there is no 'flash' just the light, but you can buy an app called Vignette that automatically controls the on/off of the light when picture taking. That said, as we are literally on the cusp of receiving the 2.1 update and we don't know entirely what this will improve then I would say hold off on buy an app until we know.

You don't mention where you are and what carrier you are with. The 2.1 update will also open up a load more apps too, but obviously we don't know when individuals will be getting it which is why I asked where and who.

Task Killers are questionable as far as battery life in my opinion. There is lots of info around on the pro's and con's but basically the android system is supposed to be clever at using its resources and task killing just interupts this. Yes programmes run in the background but they are not necesarily draining your power and if the system needs more resources it will close / disable the ones you aren't using. I used to kill, and got very hung up on the numbers but now I don't bother and just let the phone get on with it.

Hope some others can chip in with the other parts of your query.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Hi.

It's just a light.
2) What's the best bluetooth headset to get as far and sincing and clarity with a modest price tag?
Never used one but others can answer that.

Use one or the other, it's pointless using 2.
4) Why do the task killers find apps that i haven't even opened, running in the background?
It's similar to runing a computer, it needs certain programs/apps/services to run.

I am from St Louis using AT&T service on the X10. I don't use both task killers at the same time, just wanted to know which was better. The office said to use them to conserve battery and if the apps int he background aren't killing my battery life, then what is? I only seem to get 4 hours and thats when the phone is NOT being used. Tried to listen to music while working one day and it died in less than an hour. Didn't seem right which is why I took it back to AT&T...she loaded the app killer and although it helped, it has not resolved the issue. My battery info says its draining due to 60-90% usage all the time, from the "screen", but the screen is not on and I put in sleep mode if I am not using it. So what gives?

That's why most come with an "ignore" feature. ;)

AH hahahaha i wondered what that was for

But seriously, i added ignores for what i thought was needed, but the background tasks that seem innocuous still killed system stuff after being killed by task killer

nad by the time i added them all to ignore there was only about 4 left so didn't see the point, was more hassle working it out than leaving it alone
