Accessories Do I need screen protector?

I currently have a screen protector on my screen, but it kinda does this weird prismy effect to it. Since I'm hearing the Fascinate's screen is one of the best on the market, I feel like I'm depriving myself of one of the best aspects of the phone by keeping it on. However, I'm also petrified of the idea of scratching the screen. What do you guys think, do you have a screen protector or not? Is the screen really resiliant to light scratches? I keep it in a pocket with nothing else in there.

Also, I posted this in a different thread about disinfecting the fascinate but... I currently use 70% isopropyl alcohol pads to wipe down the phone on a near daily basis. Wasn't too scared of harming the screen with the screen protector on, think it'd be ok with it off?

I don't have one, but I'm also not petrified by the idea of scratching it. I think you'd better keep yours.

Yes you need it if you hate scratches, the SF does not have Gorilla Glass. I Just applied mine today. For the SF, I got a high quality protector - Realook off Amazon, 2 for $11- it is perfect and as reviewers have said you can't tell it's on there. I had a cheap crap protector on the D1 and it looked so bad I took it off. I have 4 noticable scratches on the D1 and would expect the same for the SF. Yes, you can get 5 cheapos for $1.99 which I have done and will never do it again.

Well we have a matter of difference of opinion then as there are countless articles on the interwebs saying all GalaxyS do have Gorilla Glass. I for one believe it does have GG.

Just spoke with Marge at Samsung 800-726-7864. The Fascinate has Gorilla Glass. She referred me to the Corning website for more info.

Methinks I should have checked before I dropped $11 on a screen protector I did not need.

My D1 has 4 nice scratches, never abused. I too usually dont protect. Now that I did (based on the D1) with the SF I now learn that it has Gorilla Glass and I did not need a protector.

Yeah I knew someone had just made the assertion that it didnt have GG when I saw your other thread/post but I had forgotten it was you who said it didnt . Good work following up on your own miscue. BTW, how's Marge?

I am not big on screen protectors and today i looked at my screen and i have a few little scratches on it. So i will definitely be adding one this time around. My blackberry storm was pretty good at being scratch resistant.

I tend to keep my phone in my pocket which could have change, keys, switchblades , brass knuckles and stuff like that

Yes, I experienced weird prismy effect on my old screen protector for $5 from ebay.
I changed it to SGP ultra crystal screen protector. it's 2 for $13 + shipping.
This is the best screen protector. It feels like glass, doesn't have rubbery orange peel feeling. It is dry application, so easy to install, but I had to fight the dust before I install it. I love it so far, you never know if you get scratched your lovely Fascinate.

It's fragile looking, whether it's fragile or not.

But I'm overly protective of it and careful in handing it for more reasons than that.

When I was looking at the Fascinate before I bought one, the salesman took a key and dragged it across the screen without damaging it and that was one of the features that sold me on this phone. I have had other phones that I used screen protectors on and they made it hard to use the device properly, so I am glad I don't need one on this.
