What is the best unlockable GSM Android phones?

Hey guys,

I'm in Canada on Telus, and have a Nexus One. My girlfriend is on Rogers with a Milestone. Both phones are great, but I am curious to know if there are better phones available and unlockable?

The N1 is fantastic, but its painfully tiny storage space really kills the experience. Same goes for the Milestone.

It would also be great to have a higher quality video capture and maybe even a front facing cam.

So my question is, has anything recently launched that is the latest and greatest (and of course unlockable) or is anything coming out shortly?

Any info would be appreciated.

I dont know about the best one but i personally like the desire hd. I also have the nexus and would be really happy if it wasn't for the internal storage, which is a damned curse. Other than that I wouldn't mind a bigger screen. Anyway all things considered the desire hd looks good to me.

You can buy them on ebay unlocked for around 800 (to much I know). Anyway theres no front facing camera but other than that they look awesome. Still a few phones are supposed to come out by the end of the year so... anyway that's my 0.2 for now

As always with these threads, define exactly what you mean by "best". What exactly are you looking for? What matter most? What are your priorities?

Out of curiosity, what is the problem with N1 storage? I thought since it got 2.2 Froyo that you could just install apps on the SD card and then you have all the storage you want?

There are a limited number of apps that are SD ready. Some apps, such as Flash, Skype, and a ton of games, will not allow for an SD save.

You could root and save, but other than that, you're stuck with a great phone, and a hurting storage!

I read somewhere that the Desire HD phones will not do 3G on Rogers and/or Telus. Only 2G!

Any truth to that?

^ it depends on the supported 3g bands.

check your provider's bands and then look at the phone specs.
