This is a question for those proficient in photoshop/gimp/etc...

When making a wallpaper for the Inc and it's limited color gamut AMOLED screen what are/is the tools used to make them smooth not showing that ugly dithering (correct word?)?

Here is an example below...it looks beautiful on my PC screen (H-IPS panel), but throw it on the Inc and ugh! :p

So what say you photoshop pros? What's the trick :)

The Incredible uses a 16-bit AMOLED or 18-but SLCD. So, use your image editing program to convert the file to a 16-bit color palette, and then what you get on your screen should be nearly identical to what you get on your Incredible.

And I know what you mean about the color banding. On some nice, native 24-bit images, it looks horrible.

Wow this has turned out to be more difficult than I thought. I'm using GIMP and a 24bit image (wallpaper), but to convert it to 16 bit through GIMP I can't do it. I can do it in MS Paint though, but too much color banding/dithering. I'll just need to study this whole process some more anyone else with a tip or trick? :D
