Help A serious SERIOUS problem with Froyo

After unplugging your phone, run the gallery app and close it again. Leave the phone for awhile (a few hours) check the battery usage of the sensors by dialing *#*#4636#*#*

Select [sensor usage] & [since last unplugged].

Look if Gallery is on the list and see how long it has been on for.

If the time is anything close to the [since last unplugged] the sensor in the Gallery app is unnecessary draining the battery!!!!($*&%*&@#$&*$

My phone was unplugged for 10 hrs 30mins, gallery sensor was used for 10hrs 28mins
c'mon WTF!!!!


btw my 6% right now!!

Samsung needs to sort this now ASAP

But, I'd like to thank Ih4teKies for posting this thread. My battery went down unusually fast overnight and today, and I couldn't figure out why, since I hardly used my phone at all. It turns out an app had been using my sensor for the last 23 hrs. Then I remembered that I don't think I closed out of it correctly last time I used it.

Is there any way to see what's accessing the sensor right now, rather than waiting for several hours to see what has been accessing it?

Get hold of SystemPanel and after installation, load go to Settings and tick 'Monitoring Enabled', 'App CPU Monitors', 'App CPU Time', 'System Monitor' & 'System Processes'.

You will now be able to monitor each application and see just how much the App has consumed CPU time.

Guys this is insane. MORE no EVERY galaxy S user on froyo MUST KNOW THIS.
This is unacceptable!! I don't usually moan about my phone that much, but this is different.

Only solution is to delete the original Gallery.apk and install 3d gallery from the market.

Well, put it this way; I have it running all the time and it's in my notification window. When I go to bed I put the phone in Airplane mode. In the morning, some eight hours later when I next switch on SystemPanel has been monitoring all night but my battery drain was only 1%.
I never have a battery drain greater than 1%.

It's all a matter of loading SystemPanel and checking which Apps are eating your CPU and ultimately your battery.

The trick is to stop any Apps misbehaving. I have a few essential widgets which occasionally misbehave, I simply stop them, come out of Systempanel and restart them. This time they restart without causing problems.
