I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome Froyo 2.2.1 Based ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here: http://androidforums.com/droid-roms/211268-rom-charity-smoked-glass-themed-v-10-froyo-2-2-1-fast-stable-great-battery-life.html

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

Instructions...

Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG11-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.

SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

Installed and working almost flawlessly (see following). I did change the kernel to slayhers as I have before and went with the 1.25 ghz...BAM...1788 Quadrant Score. Might try a P3 or Chevy to see if I can get 1800+.

I first installed over the top of v.10 and everything seemed to work well but due to problems (again, see following) I reinstalled with a wipe.

BUT, I am having one somewhat significant problem which may, or may not have anything to do with this ROM. In short, metamorph and ninjamorph won't work. I am getting the error "Some files could not be extracted and set up. Please make sure you have enough free space in /system and that Busybox is installed!"

I have about 10 MB free in /system, which I believe is enough.
Prior to googling this problem I applied "fix permissions" via ROM manager (which I always do anyway) and downloaded busybox again via TiBu. All with no change for either app. I then googled to find I am not the only person who has had this problem and attempted this via terminal emulator:

su

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system

chmod 755 /system/xbin/busybox

mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system

sync

reboot

After reboot the problem still exists with those apps. I will continue to troubleshoot, but if anyone has the same problem and has come up with a solution before me, please let me know.

Okay...fixed. I purchased the app, Root Tools ($ 0.99 at the time in Market) awhile back so I could quickly play with boot animations and fonts. I haven't used it much otherwise. Anyway, from within this app ->extras ->miscellaneous -> Symlink busybox applets. I have no idea what the hell this means and it really didn't seem to do anything at the time but metamorph and ninjamorph now work and I have the phone looking like I want.

AND....get ready...I got a quadrant score of 1820 (after 4th run). This is with slayhers 1250 kernel with the setcpu profile all at interactive. BOOYAAA! I really need to start taking screen shots so you all don't think I am BS'ing!

Thanks dew and excellent work! Happy Thanksgiving to you...unless you're not American, in this case, Happy Thursday.

Thanks Dew for the great ROM!! Don't know if I will update to V11 yet. I got wifi to work in V10, and very happy with my current setup. Does not look like too much in the change log that would help me out. Performance is already more than I could ever ask for :) When I first installed your rom, my phone was getting way too hot, so I went to another. When I went back to this rom yesterday, I did a wipe and clear everything, now there is no heat from the phone.

Does an over-clocked rom cause heat?
Thanks again for the great work! Happy Turkey Day.

Hope your phone doesn't catch fire with that speed :p

Has anybody had problems with the update.zip? Every time I go into Recovery to install the update, it says "E:Can't open /sdcard/sg11-update.zip (bad) Installation aborted."

Dont know how your getting into recovery but you may need to rename it "update.zip" if you do it through your computer windows will add the .zip for you.... hope this helps

My battery life kinda took a hit after I flashed, I used clockwork to wipe batt stats with a full charge and then let it die overnight, its been on the charger about 4 hours and is just now at 90% .... I cant wait to see how long it lasts now, I got 8 hours of pretty heavy use before I reset them......

Never seen "wipe batt stats" what would that have to do with the life of the battery? I would think it al depends on how you use the phone, screen brightness, wifi etc.. Maybe something I have never came upon. Interesting....how do you do it?

Sorry, I forgot to mention I use Clockwork Mod. I've never had a problem with not renaming the .zip files.

I flashed back to Charity v.10, LFY v1.95, and now UD2.1 and I still get the same message. I'll try renaming it and flashing.

Edit: no luck. Still getting the same message.
