Scientific calculator

I want to know how to use the percent (%)? When I try to add 20.00 + 15%... it comes back with 20.15?! It should be 23.00!! I use my phone calculator for the tip at restaurants all the time, and I don't want to download an app for it.

The way it is now, I just multiply 20 x .15, and then I have to add the original amount (20) to the answer. (It is only one extra step, but why do I have to do that when there is a percent button?)

To eliminate the second step, just change 15% to 115% and you should be multiplying them instead of adding them.

examples for figuring tips:

For $20 bill plus 15% tip, you would enter:
20.00 X 115% = 23

For $25 bill plus 20% tip, you would enter:
25.00 x 120% = 30

Thats how I have always done it, regardless of phone/calculator.

Try realcalc in the market. I use it all the time for work. Also i just tried your scenario on it and it works like how you are wanting it to.
