1st droid. R.I.P

So, after hearing a bunch of crazy stories about having to get phone replacements (much of them seeming to be a problem with the user, not the device) I now have my own story.

About 20 seconds into ANY phone call i make/receive my mic cuts out and the person on the other side cant hear me. As you can imagine it is pretty frustrating, except I get to hear the other person cuss at the phone because they are angry the call was "lost". haha

I brought it into the store and they did a hard reset on everything, I then made a phone call to the store to see if it was fixed but after about ten seconds they could not hear me anymore.

Now I have to wait till they mail me a new one. The store has not gotten a shipment since the release because of the high demand and low supply.

I noticed that after the hard wipe there is no way to get a list of apps you had on before it. At least the one paid app I have was put in my downloads list, but is there some way to see the unpaid apps I had?

Had that same problem myself. I backed up all of my apps in Astro and could reinstall them off the card, but as non-market installs it doesn't look like they would get upgrades.

The backup folder is a good list of what to download at least...

well, the odd thing is when i first went to "download" after the clean install, it showed me all the apps I had. I installed a few necessary ones, but once i went back the list was gone...

Great news that WILL interest everyone....

Got my replacement only 3 days (expected it to take weeks) after going to Verizon.

It came with an extra 16gb card which the packet told me to take out and keep (I know weird, I got an extra 16gb?) Im right about that aren't I?

My first phone was 39/09 and the new one is 42/09. I believe its new also.

I had ghost armor on my phone and when i brought my original phone and my new one in they gave me a new protector for free! It was covered by the warranty. They didn't use the only protector and actually this time put on a protector that was made for the droid as apposed to my last on which was custom cut by the guy at best buy.

Sound like a deal to anyone else?

when u saaid it may take weeks for u to get another droid in that made me mad, when u have the warranty u deserve better service than that. im glad they got it to you in 2-3 days like they are supposed to. even with high demand, there's plenty of them everywhere in stores (around here) and if you order online, you can get it overnight. glad things worked out for you.. now if only i could decide if i should get the droid or keep my eris..

That number is under the battery. 39/09 is the first made as far as I know (39 being the week of the year, and 09 being the year)

Oh and also to add to the new phone, about 4 hour after I powered it on, It asked If i wanted to update to 2.0.1, so somehow it detected the old version and gave me the option for the OTA.
