LGNPST METHOD

MUST HAVE LG USB DRIVERS:
http://goo.gl/USSTK

WINDOWS ONLY!

NOTICE: THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE THAT CAN NOT USE THE LGMU METHOD {MAY ALSO SERVE AS AN UNBRICK GUIDE BUT MAY CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE MEID}

DO NOT FLASH WITH LGNPST WHILE STUCK IN EMERGENCY DOWNLOADING DO NOT UNPLUG MODE

AS ALWAYS I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE WHILE USING THIS GUIDE
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THIS SOFTWARE/GUIDE IS VIRTUALLY IDIOT PROOF. SO MUCH SO I HAD MY 7 YEAR OLD SISTER READ THROUGH AND DO IT WITH MY ALLY...AND SHE WAS SUCCESSFUL....

THIS DOES NOT FLASH THE STOCK RECOVERY

YOU NEED 7ZIP OR WINRAR FOR THIS. I RECOMMEND 7ZIP. GOOGLE IT.

STEP 1: Download this 7z file here: http://goo.gl/VJdpY

STEP 2:
Extract the folder inside the 7z to your desktop. You should now have a folder labeled LGNPST on your desktop.

IT IS CRUCIAL YOU FOLLOW THESE NEXT FEW STEPS IN ORDER!

STEP 3: Install the File LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi.

STEP 4: When that completes, install the file LGNPST_Components_Ver_4_0_22_0.msi.

STEP 5:
When that completes, install the file LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_4_0_9_0.msi.

STEP 6:
Once finished installing those 3 files, open a new windows explorer window and navigate to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.

STEP 7:
Bring up the window that shows the LGNPST folder on your desktop. Copy the LGNPST.exe file from the LGNPST Lab 1.2 folder to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.

DO NOT DELETE THE LGNPST_General.exe file.

STEP 8: Go to your desktop and look for a shortcut to LGNPST, if there is one Delete it. Then go back to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST and Right click on LGNPST.exe (NOT LGNPST_GENERAL.exe) and choose Send To: Desktop (Create Shortcut).

STEP 9: Go back to your LGNPST folder and copy the VS740.dll file to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.

STEP 10: Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt.

STEP 11:
In the command prompt window type WITH the quotes:
Code:
cd "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST"
and press enter.

STEP 12: You should now be at a prompt that says
Code:
C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST>.
STEP 13: Type in:
Code:
regsvr32 VS740.dll
(If successful it should say the file was registered successfully, If you get an error message, Reboot your PC and try again.)

STEP 14:
Close out of all the windows explorer windows, you shouldn't need them anymore at this point, and Double click on the LGNPST shorctut you created earlier.

STEP 15: When LGNPST loads, have your phone plugged in with USB Debugging on. In a couple minutes it should display a phone, click on it then go to File>Select DLL, and choose the VS740.dll file from the list.

STEP 16: Click the Provision tab and select upgrade.

STEP 17:
Where it says BIN File, click the folder button and browse to the BIN folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.

STEP 18: In the Open BIN File window type: *.* in the File Name box.

STEP 19:
Click the VS740ZV6_01.TOT file then click Open.

STEP 20: Where it says SCR File, check the box and click the folder button and navigate to the SCR folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.

STEP 22:
Click VS740ZV6_01.SCR then click Open.

STEP 23:
Check the box next to PRL and Uncheck the NAM2 box. Go back to NAM1 and click the folder button, and navigate to the PRL folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.

STEP 25:
Click the 58005 - OEM EVDO DEFAULT.PRL file and click open

STEP 26:
Click the START button, and DO NOT touch anything while this runs, this will switch the phone to the EMERGENCY DOWNLODING, DO NOT UNPLUG screen.

STEP 27: This process should take about a half hour at the very most to complete. Usually takes < 20min

STEP 28: Once the phone is on, you will probably get a bunch of Force Close boxes. Unplug the phone, and pull the battery then re-insert.

STEP 29: Do a factory reset by pressing and holding VOL UP+HOME+END

STEP 30:
Once the phone is powered back on, make sure the phone is provisioned correctly and update your PRL file by dialing *228 and selecting Option 2

STEP 31:
Dial *#*#CHECKIN#*#* and get pushed all the OTA updates and install them.

STEP 32:
You're done with this guide. If coming from Trident's Root and Froyo guide, you may return to that AND START WITH STEP #10 HERE: [GUIDE] FroYo 2.2.1 for Root Users! - Android Forums

This.... SAVED MY PHONE! It was actually in such bad shape it would only allow emergency options, and wouldn't allow me the upgrade option. So I followed the guide up to step 19 and flashed it with the DLL and BIN, then after a long nervous wait my phone boots back into Android. Now it can't make calls - so I am going through the whole process of using the LGNPST Application - this time able to follow the directions and upgrade.

Okay... I went through the process and when the phone came back up it has a triangle flashing to the left of my signal bar, which I imagine is saying I'm roaming. It of course wants to activate my phone - but when I press either 1 or 2 it says Alltel... Which of course I'm on Verizon. Did I slip up somewhere or could it have latched on to a wrong tower by mistake? I had a work cellphone do that one time when a Verizon tower went down.

Okay after a little bit of playing around I found online that by tapping the four corners of the activation screen you can bypass it. Once I did that I inserted my wifi data and proceeded to get on the market place and get Astro, and Rom Manager. I used Z4Root to root the phone, then used Rom Manager to flash the custom recovery. So at this point I have all the tools in place I could think of... I tried flashing Velocity 4 & it's baseband file with no luck - it all installed fine but still says it's on alltel.

I'm back to having a bootable phone - it just seems to have forgotten what network it's on.

Death: you had told me in IRC to try flashing the PRL. When I did just that - my Ally is on the Verizon network, but my phone won't activate or update roaming.

In the LGNPST program, when I click the "Phone Setting" button, the box NV Editor comes up, but in it's Basic Information shows a few things I know are problems.

Phone S/W Version: VS740ZV6
Warranty Date: Not Set
ESN: 00000000
MEID: Not Active
Life Timer: Not Support
Life Count: Not Support

Please tell me you guys did not flash with lgnpst while you were at the white Downloading Do Not Unplug screen.....

That would be correct.... and based on your reaction I'm guessing it's going to have to go back to Verizon? Or is there a way to plug in the information the phone seems to be missing to identify itself on the network.

In my own defense, no other methods would work at the time to unbrick the phone.. This was basically my last ditch effort to try and salvage it.

Well, idk if verizon will help or not. and there is a way to do it but those methods are illegal for me to discuss.

Death, I was having a problem while trying to get the froyo update and had to use this method of unbricking my phone, which worked great by the way with the only exception that I somehow managed to wipe my meid from the phone. I think I posted this on a different thread but I had so many tabs opened I can't really remember which one I posted on. I know you had said it was against policy to post a guide to correcting this but if you could pm me or gtalk (dixey21) or email (dixey21@gmail.com) even just a point in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks though without your help I'd still just have a rather sophisticated paper weight!
