When someone calls you you do not have to do the pattern. All you do is slid down the screen to answer the call. I guess being in my pants slides the screen just at the right time.

Actually, you don't need to slide the screen to answer. Just pressing the green phone button to the left of the left of the trackball will answer the phone without it being unlocked.

Any way to change how the call is answered?
Any way to make the track ball not answer calls?
That is more than likely what is happening.
If anyone has any other solutions please respond.
Thanks.

Sorry, I misled you. It's not the track ball, but the call button (button with green phone to the left of the trackball) that will answer the phone. I don't know of anyway to change this action.

Try closing the phone app before you put the phone in your pocket, that worked for me.

That hasn't worked for. When the phone rings (while its sleeping) you still have the option of sliding the screen down to answer, I also keep it in my pocket and although I haven't had the problem of my pocket answering when I take it out it seems to slide the screen thus answering the call. Some call I would rather not answer. At this point I have not found a solution, it would be nice to be able to take it out of your pocket without the call being answered already. I usually just hang up if I don't want to talk with that person.

Is there an app that can change the entire look/function of the lock screen?

I have this exact same problem, I've got a few texts of my mom cussing at me because she talked to my pocket for a good 30 seconds...LOL

The only solution I have now is to put the phone in my pocket screen facing outward (remember it's not pressure that activates the touch screen, only capacitance) in my work pants, because those are the only pair of pants I have with pockets thin enough for my leg skin to activate the touch screen.

I tried LockBot Pro, but while it's an awesome program (i was loving my custom 2.x lock screen and sound), the HTC phone unlock always pops up whenever you get a call, so I ended up returning the app. :\

EDIT: totally agree with sabakawasaki, the vibration on the phone is pathetic! With the pants I have with the pockets thick enough to prevent my thigh from answering calls, I don't even feel the vibration of the phone! :p

I ended up getting the free version of Lockbot. It has helped me with my home screen problem as far as being able to set a 4 digit pass code but still no help with answering calls. I wish the 4 digit lock screen would pop up when the phone rings. I did notice when the phone rings now there is no slide bar. There is just the android with an "answer" or "decline" box below him. Even with this I still tend to "pocket answer" phone calls. I also do not wear tight pants like some people were stating might cause the problem.:)

Anyone else out there have a solution?

I always make sure my screen is facing outward when my phone is in my pocket. Since doing this, I have not had one missed call or accidentally dialed person. Nor have I had my phone unlocked on some random screen or in some random app. I think if they had a dedicated screen power button, this would solve a lot of issues, however. But I would recommend making sure that the screen is facing out. It's not your pants, it's your leg THROUGH your pants pressing on or sliding across the screen.
