am I the only one on 3 UK who has no 3g?

If i was you and you have not tried this yet and 3 don't know anything when it comes to technical stuff ask them for a new sim card and you will find it should solve your problem...

Had this on my old e61 and sim card solved it, Out of date old sim will not work properly when in the new HTC.

Regards

Craig

Same problem as me jamil. My nokia n95 8gb's internet (on 3)works perfect where i live ( london W3/W12 border) whereas my htc hero (on 3) has no internet at all (apart from the 3 start up page). It's supposedly being investigated now, as 3 said there were 2 other people in my area with the same problem. I must have spent 3-4 hours on the phone to 3 in about 6-7 phone calls. It's been driving me cuckoo, as the hero's internet works perfect in most other areas. Anyway, i'm now on my 2nd Hero (been roughly 2 weeks now), still same problem and been told it will be anything upto 21 days to fix it (21 days will take it upto 3rd feb), so i'll have to wait and see...........

Should also have said that i've had a new sim card and have changed various settings as directed by a couple of the 3 phone operators and still no joy. The signal keeps switching between the 3g and H, so whether the signal/transmitter/or base station (as they call it) can't handle the H signal, i don't know. P.S. Apologies in advance to anyone for my basic knowledge, i'm new to this tecnical stuff. Thats why i'm on here, because i want to learn and get the best out of my hero

Yes indeed, it does seem we are a rare breed Jamil. Just out of interest, what area do you live and have you tryed using the internet outside the area you live ? I should have mentioned in my previous post that the internet actually worked half of the time in the area i live when i 1st received it. I was then told after doing all the checks by the 3 phone operator (settings, swopping sim's with my nokia n95 8gb which still didn't work btw, checking all the software/firmware was up to date etc etc), that it may have something to do with the bad weather we was having at the time. They then sent me a new 1 which was exactly same for a couple of days, then the internet stopped working altogether which i think was on Jan 13th (which is where i mentioned 3rd Feb for the 21 days for them to fix the problem previously) . If it still don't work after that, well....... i'm not interested in any of the phones that 3 have at the moment. They only have 1 Android type phone (hero) and now i've (half !!) sampled it's delight's, I WANT SOME MORE !!!

Hackney, East London. I intend to argue for a Blackbery Bold 9700 - by all accounts the best one ever made and 3 have it. I've never had net on the Hero and the phone seems like a test, a half finished google experiment almost. **** them, eithier test it or don't bother. Im not being part of the testing of the Android platform for so much money a month. Android WILL be great, but its not quite ready IMO,so Im done...no change elswhere..but the N95 still works...

Thats what a part of me thought, that maybe i was (or should i say am) part of their test as it is their 1st android phone. You'd have thought they would have made sure the android phones worked properly in every area, and not presume because their symbian phones do, that android would too, before rolling out the Hero's. I just can't work out how i live in a strong 3g area (according to 3) and have never had a problem with my 2 previous nokia's (on 3) internet, yet the hero just don't want to know !! To be honest, i was very happy with my nokia n95 8gb, but as it was nearing the end of it's 18 month contract, i was thinking about doing a rolling monthly contract but the best (and only) 3 would offer was 300 mins and internet for

My problem with internet connection in the whole area where i live, is still not resolved. 21 days are nearly up now for them to fix it since i complained about the 2nd Hero's internet. Even went into a 3 shop in Ealing (London W5) yesterday and explained my problem to him. I asked him how long he'd had his and if he'd had any problems. "2 days" was his reply and "no problems" when he had used the phone that morning in the area he lived which was hammersmith (London W6). I asked him to try his there and then, because my internet would not connect in the W5 area too, and his wouldn't work either !!! Seems to be a problem in most of the west london area. It's a shame because i love the phone (when i get the chance to use it properly), but come the 3rd Feb, it's gonna have to go back. I've basically been messed about now since the 29th Dec (when my 1st Hero was delivered). How many chances can i give them ? Don't know how 3 will take to me cancelling the contract. I'm not interested in any other phone 3 have. I ONLY WANT AN ANDROID !!!

Cheers Wibbla. They've already supposedly done the 3g coverage in my area sometime last Nov/Dec (there wasn't a problem for me on my nokia n95 8gb beforehand anyway) and i've not noticed any better performance on it. I will get in contact with the link you have sent me come the 3rd Feb, if i don't get the result/answers i want off the 3 technical team. I'm already dealing with 3's specialised staff (not made no difference yet tho !!)
