I got a Droid Eris in the middle of January. Last Saturday everything stopped working (all the droid processes kept force closing). Couldn't make/receive calls. I had to get the phone factory reset, and I lost everything. Then again today the same thing happened. I can't make/receive calls, and all the processes like come.android.core keep quitting. I can't make or receive calls nor send SMS messages. Do you know what I should do? I am currently without a phone.
This is the second time it has happened in a week.

I did look at some other threads too but please answer here if you can.

A main process that stops is android.process.acore, but other processes also stop unexpectedly.

There is yet to be someone find the real reason this happens many ppl think it is a combo of apps some think it is the phone itself. I got my back up pro and backed up everything to my sd card so if it ever happens agian i just do a hard reset and then a restore and I'll be good to go. you can do a hard reset yourself to get your phone back on do you know how?

when that starts happening, you should uninstall a few applications from your device, then take the battery out for a little bit, put it back in and power it up.. I had this issue before as well, and called verizon to get help with it, they told me it is a common problem, but the only way they know to fix it currently, is this way.. I try to not have too many applications installed at one time these days, at least until they send out an update with a fix for this problem (i'm sure HTC knows about this and is planning on fixing it)
It's been about 3 weeks now without that issue, everything is working great!

like gtp said, A backup app is always good to have/use.. I use app manager and Sprite Backup.. App manager is nice, because you can save your applications that you've installed to your SD card, so if you do uninstall it to get your device back up and running, you can quickly install it from your sd card, instead of finding it in the market and downloading it again :)

I have had similar problems. Ended up doing a hard reset/wipe once and it cleared up for a while. Now its back any time I try to install Twidroid or Seesmic (Twitter apps). They work fine if I don't reboot, but as soon as I do, the phone radio is dead (X with no signal bars). I posted a complaint to Twidroid and the arrogant tech support/developer named Thomas said "no, why/how should an app mess with your phone's radio". I replied and have never heard back from them.
Now I reboot after every 1-2 app installs and if the radio is out I back out and see what broke it, rebooting as I go. - not a great way to own a phone...but I don't want to hard reset again and have to start from scratch...

seeing as how we all seem to have similar problems maybe we could list the apps we have downloaded. By going over all lists we could possibly find out if its a common app or combo of apps that are causing the problem(s). I myself am having a problem with com.provider.htc

That list could get pretty long and I don't think that the one you list here is one that you downloaded. Sounds like a core OS app.

I get errors on:
process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly
process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly

also android.process.acore has stopped...

whenever I install the twitter-like apps.

This is the exact same thing I went through today, very annoying and I lost my "Phone" contacts, but the "Google" contacts were imported when I restarted it. Also, my "My Downloads" list got emptied out in the Market.

Very frustrating, and I don't know what caused it. I hadn't installed any new apps recently that I can recall, except a few simple puzzle games a few days ago. I restarted my phone today only to receive a slew of force closes, and a "No Service" message, with a little X in the reception area.

I took the battery out, restarted multiple times, and nothing would work. I couldn't even change any settings, because the phone would just freeze, force close the "Settings" app, or completely restart itself. This happened on the way home from work and I literally wanted to throw my phone out the window and destroy it, I was so frustrated.

I took it to Verizon, he confirmed everything I just said, then did the hard reset, and now everything is back to normal, except that I can't remember some of the names of some apps I had, and I lost some phone contacts, but of course I don't know who...
