lost all saved txts

Ok so I got a txt from a friend of mine like normal and all of a sudden I get a force close on my messenger and when I reopen it ALL my threaded txts are gone. I had threads among maybe 25 people with some threads up to maybe 700 or so. I use the native app with sms pop up.

I've noticed some serious lag on occasion when receiving a txt with sms pop up and my phone accidentally going into landscape mode. Anybody else have that issue?

Basically I'm just wondering if this has happened to anybody else and if there is a way I can retrieve my old messages. It's not a HUGE deal and I was kind of prepared for this when our phones get the 2.x update but not quite so soon.

Thoughts?

I have no idea where your messages might've gone, but I DO know that having too many stored texts can contribute to lag issues. My threads with 500+ texts take longer to load as they're trying to access your sd card where they are stored.

Yes, the OP's text load seems excessive.

I am not a techy geek, but I do know that unpredictable behaviors of all sorts, including random vanishing of saved data, are symptoms of system overload.

Something similar happened to me when I had several threads in the 1000s a few weeks ago. It would force close and then nothing would show up. I don't think they're gone for good, though. Give it some time and they should show up again. When they do, it's probably time to delete all of them, which may take a while and may prompt you to "force close" or "wait" as the service will become unresponsive. After about 10 minutes or so, it should have cleared all of it.

If you actually need some of the texts you have saved, use SMS Backup and it will save all of them in a folder, by contact, into a folder in your Gmail account.
