Root Wifi Tether Very Slow

I've just installed Bugless Beast 0.7.5 yesterday (loving it so far, OC'd to 800mhz), but the wifi tether is running very slow. I'm using the Wireless Tether for Root Users app, and I'm getting terrible speeds.

Speeds I'm getting are: 634kbps down, 106kbps up. Is this normal or is something wrong with my setup?

Hey, at least your internet isn't censored in (South) China! heh

Nope, but my ISP has a virus which is throttling bandwidth from Portland to Bangor every single day. 25Mb/s from 3am to 3pm, then it starts to trickle down. By 9PM I am operating at .14Mb/s. It has been like this for three weeks. :(

That is how I know how fast my tethering is. It is currently 4x the speed of my ISP at 9pm.

Download the speed test app from the market, this will allow you to test throughput to your phone. Use this reading to compare speeds with tethering, if its significantly different then we can rule out 3g connection as the culprit.

Try changing the broadcast channel, another signal might be interfering

lol, i finally decided to try out wifi tether and it's actually faster than the crappy dsl connection I currently feed off at home! Loving it!

2Mbps down/ 650Kbps up btw

edit: I stand corrected, the longer I eave it on, the higher it seems to go. I am now running at a consistent 2.6Mbps/750Kbps. Is it normal that the connection speed would go up over time or is this just a temporary change in signal strength?
