hi guys- so i mane a nandroid back up ajd wiped-reforkatted to install a fresh rom then i installed a few games like uno and angry birds and some free apps, not many though. Now i get a really annoying ad on the notiilficqtion bar about winning an ipad and stuff like th. How do i find whoch app is giving me adds or how do i block them? please help

Go to settings > application > running services and look for anything that shouldn't be starting up unless needed. My gf had this issue with a Christmas live wallpaper because she didn't check the permissions on the apps she was installing...

The way i found it was by installing another browser besides stock (opera mobile and mini) and never set any to default. When the malware tries to open an ad, you will see the app name in the title bar, while it waits for you to choose a browser to open the ad with. Always make sure you check permissions before installing anything. If it needs your contact info, sms, internet, etc. make sure you know why. Good Luck!

Edit: also install lookout mobile security or another antivirus app

I had those too. There should be an opt-out option in the description that gives u a link to stop the ads if you type in some phone information. I forgot what site it was but ya

Before I had the Esteem I had an Optimus M and installed an app that resulted in the same thing, the ads on the notification bar. I did some looking and found out that they were from this "airpush" thing that the app's dev installed in the .apk, and used an app called Airpush Detector to find the one causing the issue.

Airpush Detector

Phandroid article on Airpush

Awesome, thanks everyone!!!
