Hello, I order a Razr Maxx today and it should be here Thursday or Friday.

Well I was wonder if any roms are much better than stock? From what I understand there is still not a ICS rom that works properly.

What I want is a fast phone, a stable phone, and LONG LASTING BATTERY.

i will suggest to you not to flash the razr for the boot loader is locked and without battery pulls it becomes more a pain. if you like to flash roms find a Gnexus or a nexus, the roms are plenty as for the razr it is ill advised.

Flashing rooms on the Razr is doable, I'm running an ICS one now. Holding the power button and volume down at the same time simulates a battery pull, so that's not a problem. However the ICS roms need a bit more work before before they are truly stable. The one I'm using now (Axiom) is good, but there are still a few bugs to be worked out - but nothing that prevents me from continuing to use it.

ICS has it's neat bits, and it's nice to have an OS whose key strokes pretty well match the one on my tablet, which is running ICS.
That said, I was mucking about with my phone on Monday and messed thinks up to a point where I had to unroot and take it back to stock. Since the current ICS ROMs aren't yet perfect, and I'm back on the Motorola upgrade path, I guess I'll just stick with stock until Motorola pushes out ICS to us (or until the ICS ROMs get more of the bugs worked out, the most important of which for me is fully functional bluetooth).
Just for the record, I don't for one second believe that whatever Motorola pushes us will be bug free, but at least they'll be Motorola's bugs. :)

If you install and use safestrap versus bootstrap on your Droid Razr in order to flash ROMS you shouldn't really have much of a problem.

The ICS ROMs were nice to look at but far from stable in regards to signal and sometimes OS in general. With that said they are very customizable and neat to play with but I couldn't keep one of them as a daily driver.

I am running the leaked RAZR ICS update and while I wouldn't recommend a novice user try to get the leak, I would say it is certainly worth waiting for.
