I read about a GPS improving trick once, something to do with using an app which checks how many satellites you're locked onto, you use the app to build up (wait for) a big array connection and then you save and restart or something, I might trawl through the SII forum for it when I have spare time.
Wow, which versions of the GSII do you guys have? I had heard going in that GPS was a long standing and fairly widespread issue on Samsung phones. Sure enough, the odds of getting a fix with my Epic Touch are like 1 in 10 at best.

I wish more people would have complained about the worthless gps on the Samsung s2. I cannot wait get a new phone when my contract is up. I would think Samsung would be concerned this may effect peoples decision when buying their next phone? I would not buy Samsung stock with their lousy response to consumers. What a shame because I have always like Samsung products. They obviously do not care.
FYI I read about this patch for the Asus Prime's (generally useless) GPS over on xda. Not only did it make the Asus' GPS somewhat useable, but I was able to use a GSII build of the same patch on my Epic Touch to almost completely cure that phone's GPS woes.
I have first hand knowledge of 6 i777 SGS2's (7 if you count one that a coworker dropped in toilet) owned by friends, family and myself. All of them are dead on, nearly instant GPS locks, even indoors. Many of them came from captivates and had all the problems we know so well. There was simply no comparison. I think that device may need a trip back to Samsung.
Current devices like XPeria S, Note and iPhone 4S also support GLONASS ontop of aGPS and has good signal, making them possible to get location fix indoor. I think the SIII will be the same.
I still have a GS, where the gps is horribly bad (Have had to tweak settings to get it going but its still poor). I'm getting the new GS3 when its out and I expect it to have good quality gps or I won't be a happy chappy. Samsung does seem to have had its fair share of reported gps issues.

I don't know what the difference is, but as others said my i777 has almost instant lock whether in doors or in the car. You may have a faulty sensor, or could just be your location as other Epic owners say they don't have that issue.
