Got my replacement lucid ready for some more testing. No I am not crazy, I have faith in shabbypenguin. The reason my phone bricked is probably my fault as I was messing with some files in my lucid via root explorer and adb. I do have to say though I have had and been modding android devices since the g1 days and this is the first brick ever (out of a lot of devices) but its cool. Ready whenever you are shabbypenguin.

Wow... truly bricked. Didn't think you really could do that anymore. Every phone these days has Odin mode for easy repair right

only samsung devices have odin and download mode, lg uses lgnpst but you need a leaked file from lg in order to use it.

Even then odin (from what ive seen) only fixes semi bricks.

Lol well that certainly explains why my illusion and moment were so easy to fix if I bricked it. My Optimus S was a little more difficult but even when bricked I generally still had access to the system via ADB. Looking forward to getting down and dirty with this Lucid. Still at my gf's house where I have no computer access lol. Tempted to see if there is a way to root without the aid of a computer

i got stock kernel which is what allowed me to make this cwm for your device. i dont need a dump of system or anything but i dont plan on making roms etc. id suggest ya runt his command after your rooted

adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p26 of=/sdcard/system.img

that will make a nice system.img for ya

Lol oh I planned on it ... I want to make sure I can undo the damage that I will probably do because like I said ... I want cyanogenmod on my phone ... might be a tad bit out of my league but that's how you learn right ;-)

I'm embarrased to say this... but I CAN NOT... FOR THE LIFE of me figure out how to get this phone into STOCK!!! recovery mode... I've never seen an android that didn't have one... usually it's something like VOL DOWN + POWER ... but this phone no matter what I do just boots normal mode

I'm sure you could create an UPDATE.ZIP and place on the root of your SD card and if you can boot into recovery mode... possibly you can fix bricked that way... trick is... I'm still having trouble just trying to get into the stock recovery lol

MOTHER F*&^ER i just figured it out... the trick is to KEEP holding VOL DOWN + POWER till it gots to factory hard reset mode... still not the recovery mode I'm looking for but its good to know

oh and I figured out download mode.... usb connected + vol down + vol up + power

Ok, rooted, made a system.img dump, installed CWM, and so far everything seems fine. Everything went through without error. So far I use adb to get into recovery, have not tried any other method. Making a nandroid backup right now as we speak. Does seem to take much longer than most other android devices I've used. Very happy about all this
Now lets start cooking up some crac... I mean roms lol

oted and removed apps before the OTA and now it constantly nags and reboots to try and update.

I got an error similar to "Cannot mount backup path". I tried to mount the SD card, but it failed. I have no external SD card installed in my phone. there is no internal storage on this device

The LG Lucid 4g (VS840) ... ummm yes there is. Mine has 4gb even though the device is advertised with 8gb.

my apologies, seems there are some differences between it and the connect.

compiling a new test version now, REALLY wish i had known this prior to submitting. as it stands you guys might have to use official cwm and then if you wanna use internal storage use the installer
