Hero Android Update

Hi

This is a great forum. I'm from India.

My Mother just bought a T-Mobile HTC Hero unlocked for herself.

I would like to know while updating this phone, do i have to download the new HTC update or T-Mobile Update ?? And if its T-Mobile one, then does the phone get locked again.

While Updating does the phone loose all its data ( Contacts, calendar, etc) or not ??

And is there any desktop manager for android phones or HTC Phones ??

You need to download the update from T-Mobile.
You can't relock it to T-Mobile.
Yeah, everything will be wiped from the phone, except things that synchronise with google.
And look for HTC Sync on the HTC website if you want to sync the PC and phone.

HTC Hero - Software Download

For the update and HTC sync, the 2.1 update should be out within the next few months.

Just to clarify and not irritate you with the questions, i will have to download the t-mobile update right, i remember having seen a much more uptodate software from the t-mobile site itself, would u think it would be safe to install that!!

one small thing , its about the motorola milestone, is it worth a purchase, as it is not availabli in my country, ill be getting an unlocked UK piece, can u also tell me how to update that , thank you !!

The one on the HTC website is version no. 2.73.x.x

Any ROM with that number is up to date, the last two digits are less important.

So it's ok to go with either, although I'd probably go with the one from T-Mobile's site my self.
