HTC Sense 4.0 glitches on the LTEvo. Post'em if you got'em.

So far I've noticed two glitches. And I've heard of one other...

The first is extremely useful. Homescreen landscape view in HTC Sense (No 3rd party launcher required!). I haven't seen anyone else mention this so far, but today I turned off auto rotation on my phone, and the phone defaulted to a landscape view rather than portrait. This includes the homescreen! Let me know if this is a normal occurrence for all devices, or if there might be something that I did that caused this to happen.

The second is useless, but a glitch nonetheless. Normally when I scroll through my home screens, I will either scroll to the next screen, or if I haven't scrolled far enough, the current screen will spring back and recenter itself. However, when I scroll my device to the right-most home screen, and if I then swipe my finger as quickly as possible to try and force it off the left side of the screen, then take one last slow swipe and let go, the screen won't spring back and recenter, but rather, it will fire back so hard that it scrolls through all my screens and lands at the left-most of my home screens (almost instantly flies through all 7 of my screens).

Also, in another thread, someone pointed out that FoxFi works for wifi tethering, however, the Network Name and Passwords cannot be set. This is a VERY useful glitch (getting the wifi tether), but a disappointing glitch restriction (the lack of password protection).

If you have anything else that you have come across, useful or not, we want to hear it.

Do you have Media Link? The only time I've seen home screens (and lock screens) in landscape is when I'm connected to Media Link. If not, THEN WHAT DID YOU DO??? Who hasn't wanted landscape sense since the OG?

I've had similar sense issues transitioning from screen to screen quickly. Sometimes it flashes to the next screen and springs back.

Also, a few times when hitting Home after being in the browser I get a Sense reset of sorts. It's not the old white screen version with the OG but it "thinks" for a few seconds then renders.

No, I do not have a media link. And yes, it is a permanent rotation, through swiping screens and returning after launching apps. Everything. It's not a temporary illusion.

I just rebooted my phone to see if I can do it again.... Yep, it's still going landscape on command (when turning off auto-rotation, it's defaulting to landscape view on my homescreens)!

I'm not sure what is causing it right now... I suspect that it's either Wave Launcher or Quick Settings. I'll post screen shots tomorrow. :D

If I launch the car app and go back to home screen it remains in landscape until I take it off car mode but not every time which is weird.

I just don't understand why if it is built into certain parts of the ui why not allow it full time it looks fine and is fully functional

I saw Neoterix mention the same findings in one of the threads around here. Don't feel like digging it up though.
Could be an application like you mentioned - I'm leaning towards Wave or one of its settings.
I'd love it if you guys could figure out what is causing it. I want to achieve landscape homescreens, stock without installing anything.

I can't replicate this. When leaving the stock Car Application it makes me confirm and close the application, not sure what you mean by 'take it off car mode'.

Yes I experienced this issue too... and then inexplicably... it stopped. I can't say how or why. Now I can't get the Home screen to go landscape voluntarily. Odd.

This is not really a glitch. This is how the home screens go through continuous scrolling. It wasn't a part of stock Sense, but it has been a feature in some of the AOSP and Sense based ROMS for a while. It's nice if you don't remember where one of your icons are, instead of scrolling right 3 screens, you don't have to scroll back over them. The only glitchy thing that I've seen is that it zips backward to the first screen rather than just continuing as if it were a circular loop.

I am having issues with maxing out text fields when typing.

I was submitting bug report via MLB app that opened gmail. Was typing and at some point it wouldn't let me type anymore. Thought was app restricting email.

Well, just happens using Phandroid app trying to type a post. Stopped letting me type.

Using stock Swype keyboard.

been reported.

One thing I have noticed is that when tapping home from an app, Sense sometimes has to restart. I was having that happen a lot with my 3D, but I didn't expect it with this one...

I've never seen a landscape homescreen. Is there a setting? I've tried auto on and off.

Just an update, my phone rotation is still bugged and I still haven't been able to figure out what caused it. It's actually a nuisance now because disabling auto rotation forces it into landscape no matter whether I'm on home screen or in an app. I prefer portrait when I'm laying on my side in bed, but I can't get it to lock that way.

I noticed a second location for the homescreen rotation option, under Accessibility. Looks like normally if you change it in one place it applies across the board. You could see if yours are operating independent of eachother, however there is probably slim to no chance of this.

If you haven't already, you could try a few g-sensor calibrations to clear the rotation bug...

I checked out those two options. I have now lost my home screen rotation. Blessing/curse is gone.
Now let's see if I can figure out what caused it!

Alarm clock....pulling "snooze" to the ring on the lockscreen just unlocks the phone while letting the alarm continue. Unlocking the phone with the ring only makes the alarm go off. Anybody else seen this? This is my second EVO 4G LTE (first one had 2 dead pixels) and both of them did the same thing.

what have you done to troubleshoot?

here ill get the party started:

1. are you rooted?
2. do you have any 3rd party apps that can take control of the lock screen/wallpaper?
3. have you previously installed or uninstalled any apps?
4. did you perform a software reset (via the power shutdown menu)?
5. do you use a car dock or any other dock?
6. is the handset in a case and/or using a screen protector?
7. what were you doing with the handset prior to this happening?
8.. does it go into portrait mode in other apps, say the browser?

I know this post is a couple months old but I unchecked auto rotate and yes mine is stuck in Landscape which is great for at night when I stick my phone in this thing I use for a dock. We were out to dinner a couple weeks ago and this think held a little menu in it and our phone fits perfect in it. Now the landscape is only one way you can't landscape with kickstand but when my phone is in this dock thing i have it the other way anyway so I can charge it so this is perfect for me. Glad I decided to read some old threads and see if anything new was here. I'm still loving my phone.

And when I dock my phone in the Sprint dock it goes to landscape mode too. I can exit out of my car app and my home screen remains in landscape until I pull the phone out of my dock which is nice.
