2.1 upgrading

Hi all again can you tell me when i update to 2.1 is it just a case of plugging the phone in and pressing update or will i need to know a bit more about my phone,as you will notice i am a complete amateur to this so all help will be appreciated,also will i lose all the info i have on there already including the apps i have paid for,thanks in advance.

No idea about the upgrade, but your phone will most probably be wiped clean. Any paid apps will be connected with your google account. As long as you use the same google account after upgrade you can install your paid apps again without charge.

My Hero is rooted (MoDaCo 3.1 rom), which includes Titanium Backup. It back up all apps to sdcard with one button push... pure genius

When the upgrade is announced HTC usually publish a guide on their support page for the phone
