facebook contact photos as phone contact photos

or goto the phone book entry, click edit, and scroll down and there is a window for linking profiles

I am trying this now to sync Facebook with my contacts. I am doing the following :-

People
All
Tap contact I wish to sync
Menu
Edit

Here's the thing. Jaffa, you, and other posts and videos I have watched, have said to scroll down to the window for linking profiles. However, all I see is a field to enter the contact's telephone number - no other options available. What am I doing wrong?!

Ok

Settings>People then at the bottomthere are 5 icons, 4th one along has a person with a sync icon, select Updates and Events at the top it will say link profiles X matched friends....This will only work if the names in your phone book are in the formay of Christian name then Family name not family name first, and are spelt as they are on the face book profile.

You have to select Edit then scroll down on the individual entry its towards the bottom under social network FACEBOOK Tap to select a friend.

Did you enter your Facebook log on when you first set the phone up?

Hi Jaffa,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, one of the first things I did with the phone was enter my Facebook log on.

Ok, I have done the following (using my brother as an example). I have now changed his name in my contacts so it's exactly as it is on his Facebook profile e.g. Andy instead of Andrew.

When I go People > Updates and events, I do not see 'link profiles X matched friends' as you describe. What I did do is go Menu > Update now. However, it didn't seem to do anything.

Then, I went to People > All > found my brother in the list > Menu > Edit. However, I still do not see an option for 'social network FACEBOOK'.

I think I'm ready to give up on this now, which is a shame, as I was looking forward to linking facebook contacts with my phone contacts (sad huh :) ). Unless of course, you have some further ideas? ;)

When you do this, the option to link profiles is at the very top of the screen, (presumably only) if you are logged in and linked to facebook and if the phone has found any matches.

For individual people, got to their details page, then the updates and events tab, then menu, the option to link profile should be on the right, the second of two that come up.

Eureka!

Ok, all my contacts are currently displayed as 'SIM', but by opening up their details in People, then clicking Menu > Save to contacts, and selecting Google, this duplicates my contact, within people, so I have both 'Google' and 'SIM'.

I access the 'Google' contact version, and as the previous thread states, I can select Updates and events, and click Facebook profile from there.

Apologies if this is galringly obvious to anyone reading, it wasn't to me at first, but phew, I've cracked it.

Thanks for the help, and hopefully this will help anyone else with the same problem.
