[Sprint] recover deleted photos?

I thought I was deleting one photo and deleted all of the cameras photos. Thought there might be a way to mount as mass storage and use a deleted file recovery program. But maybe not even with root.

Then you should be able to recover them no problem with the method I referenced in my prior post. Let me know how it goes.

I googled reviews for the Stellar program you linked before I lposted this question and people reviewed it poorly, called it a scam. So I avoided it.

You can always download the free version. It'll show you a preview of the recoverable photos, if it does this successfully, and the photos you're trying to recover are very valuable, go premium.

well that was an expensive failure. The program recovered photos that had been uploaded by google as well as png, tifs, gifs, movies and musis but did not recover any photos that I deleted. Not sure if this program ever does work with internal sd cards. It took 18 hours to scan 900,000,000 sectors so I waited and waited and then had to go thru thousands of photos, maybe more. I have only had this gnex a month and only deleted about 100 photos. Oh well. The photos were of my awesome vacation to Tuolumne meadows. My sister was with me and she also took photos, so I do have photos of the trip by her. At least these were not photos of my kids and husband. Tomorrow I will look in to the other program and found a couple of others over at xda but i'm done for the day. Stupid internal sd card.

Sorry that didn't work out for ya. I've got a possible start to a solution... but it's technical and long.... Long post below.

Hmmm.... I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to get a .dd file of the phone... If so, I likely know of some programs that'll be able to recover the photos. As long as the space hasn't been overwritten. I had a forensics class and file recovery was a part of that. With a sd card, you'd be able to mount it and issue this command (linux/unix)
Code:
dd if=/path/to/sdcard of=/tmp/SDCardDUMP.dd

Then you'd be able to use one of these couple of programs to search for deleted files.... well... maybe. I'm not entirely sure. See, a lot of them work on FAT32/NTFS file systems ($MTF) but I wanna say that a few of them would work in this situation (scalpel).

I'll find a link thread about file recovery from a while back that might be helpful. But I do think that getting the dump would likely be the 'tricky' part. ....

These links might be helpful, the bottom one is the one I was referring to above.

Again, I'm pretty sure this will only work if you're able to somehow mount the phone in a way that works similar to USB mode.... I do not believe the MTP mode would work. I know I've had a helluva time getting it to work on my linux install. (ended up going the route of FTP if anyone cares ;))

So, that's all I've got. And I agree, this internal SD is pretty lousy, but I suppose the idea is good (no file corruption by users not 'removing' their device before unplugging...)

Best of luck!
