I wanted to put a plug in for the health-related features of the phone.

From Jan 7 to March 9, I went from 172 to 153 lbs by counting calories. My goal was 155. I used "Calorie Counter," which is really nice, and had a limit of 1500 calories a day. I have gotten lazy using the app lately, but I have been keeping the weight off because I now have a feel for the nutritional content of different foods.

On top of that, I have used "My Tracks" to map jogging to show how fast I've gone and how far.

This is all stuff I could have done without the droid, but the phone makes it easy and fun.

I've been lurking here for a little while but your post compelled me to register so I can say congrats. Like you I'm on a quest to lose weight and began using my Droid to help a week ago. I'm using the calorie counter and My Tracks as well but I also use Workout Forge to set intervals in my workouts. I'm conditioning to run a "5K in May" and since I'm starting from couch potato status I'm easing my way in by alternating running 60 seconds, then walking 90 for 30 minutes. Every week I'll gradually increase the intervals. So far Workout Forge is ok, but there are some quirks I would like to see them change. Do you use a particular music player when you work out? I'm trying out MixZing Lite, but I'm not sure I like the interface.

I agree....I have lost 65+lbs using the fatsecret calorie counter app....it's incredible....the app tells me a ton of information about the food I eat but most of all it has all of the restaurants.....and I can now choose healthy choices when eating out very easily!

Gone from 230lb down to 163lb since Oct 2009 (I had an android phone on t-mobile before switching to Droid on Verizon in Nov)

Highly recommend this app!

Ha, I had to get in on this even though I've been counting calories at livestrong.com instead of an app. I just got my droid and I thought about downloading them but at this point I know what I should and shouldn't be eating to lose weight. I've went from 270 to 241 since Jan. 18 I hope to be down to 180 by Oct/Nov.

I'm on calorie counter too! I love that app!!

My weight fluctuates like crazy between summer and winter because I currently live in a cold region and I despise cold weather. In the summer I am insanely active... Hiking, swimming, paintball, skateboarding, dirtbikes/4 wheelers, camping, etc... I am ALWAYS on the move. In the winter (which, for me, is anything south of 50 degrees) I am sitting on my fat ass in front of the PC anytime I'm not working. My weight literally fluctuates between 210lbs and 280lbs between summer and winter.

Anyhow... I am on my downweight journey at the moment, now that we are finally seeing some days higher than 50. Before next winter I plan on moving, so that will help out a lot, too. Phoenix, probably...

Holy crap I think I've gone WAY off topic. Sorry about that.

Anyway... yeah, counting calories with calorie counter, tracking hikes with mytracks. Soon, my tracks will be getting replaced on my phone by "Backcountry Navigator", because it offers better features for me. (Isn't released yet, though.)

The droid is definitely going to be helping me out a ton as far as losing weight this spring/summer.

You should add me over at calorie counter. Same user name. ;) we can get an androidforum group going. lol.

This phone was the best investment I could have made....from 230lb to 163lb in 6 months....the fatsecret free app has tought me how to eat correct!! I've gone from tight 36" waist down to a loose 30" waist....I haven't been in this good of shape since grammer school! In fact, I can't even remember when I last fit into 30" pants!!! (I'm also taking amino acid and vitamin supplements from the vitamine shop and living a much more active life style....walking when playing golf, trying to walk 2-4 times a week for 4 miles at a time etc...)

I've gotten a little lazy recently tracking what I eat in the app, but I give the app credit for teaching me how to eat properly....and I still use it to look up items at fastfood and chain restaurants whenever my wife and I eat out.....

Absolutly fantastic app for FREE from fatsecret.com!!!!
