Kindle App: Does Not Remember Place?

Several times now I've gone back to something I was reading via my Kindle app and it has totally forgotten where I was. Not even the same article. At least once it was following a re-boot.

Seems like a huge design omission for such a mainstream app, so I'm suspicious.

Is it just me?

Galaxy Note N7000. Android 4.04.

are you connected to data services (2g/3g/edge/etc?) or internet (wifi) when using it? the Kindle always syncs your place online, and if that is not happening you will just resume the last known location in your e-book as it knows. it syncs the bookmarks. if you often use the app offline, you need to add bookmarks manually when you exit. you just long-tap the screen and you should get a little 'bookmark' icon on the upper right corner, click it and it will turn blue. then you will be placed on that exact page when you load the app up again.

on a Kindle Fire, not doing that will get you a 'sync failed' error when loading the app, but on the phone app it does not do it for some reason. i always play it safe and add marks manually as i don't trust 'cloud sync' anyway.

Suspicion confirmed..... it was me.

Thanks!

Having said that, I am unable to invoke manual bookmarking in my version (3.7.1.8).

Long tap brings up a "Search | Wikipedia | Web" dialog along with the built-in dictionary's definition of the word under the tap.

Tapping "Menu" while reading a page of the book in question offers up only "Home", "Top Stories", "Articles", "View Options", "Don't Keep", and "Search".

"Menu" offers different options on the Home screen but, of course, bookmarking becomes moot once the user has left the book being read.

Got it!....

Somebody's gotta be kidding.....
