Changing Phones with VM

I currently have 3 VM Optimus' and 1 Rumor Touch. We are getting 3 Galaxy S3's through Sprint and eliminating the 3 Optimus' but keeping the 1 Rumor for my wife. She has no desire to go Android but her phone was bought last and is $35 per month. The 3 Optimus' are all $25 per month grandfathered. My question is, can we change her Rumor to one of the Optimus accounts and pay $25 or will I be stuck with one $35 payment after we get the GS3's?

The last I knew, on older phones you could switch to the $25 plan, it just isn't advertised. To see if they still have it, sign onto your wife's VM account on the Virgin Mobile USA website. Once you have your account up, select the link that says "Change My Plan", at which point you will get the common plan options. At the very bottom of the plans, there should be a small line of text that says, "Don't see the plan you are looking for? Click Here". When you click on "click here", you will get the list of plans again but, at the very bottom, you may see an option for the $25/month plan.

As I said, I don't know that it is still an option but it would be worth checking.

If I create a new VM account roday and activate a pre May 2012 phone, would I be able to see the option for the $25/month plan?

I think it's no longer available. The only way you'll see that option is if you already have that plan. My girlfriend has a triumph with the 45 dollar plan and the $25 plan doesn't show. It shows for me because I have it.

You are allowed to transfer any phone introduced to VMUSA before May 1st 2012 onto your grandfathered plan without losing it. The Rumor Touch certainly fits this category. Just login to your account online and make the swap.

This is exactly correct.

I upgraded from the Optimus to the Elite with no problem whatsoever.
Retained the grandfathered $25 plan.

The newer phones that came out this summer or this fall do not qualify.
I don't care since I think the Elite is a great phone and I'm very happy with the performance, memory, and quality of the Elite.

And NO, you can NOT just BUY a "Pre-May-1-2012" phone and expect to activate it on the older price plans. You must ALREADY HAVE one of these grandfathered plans. I know it's Christmas, but that really is wishful thinking.

Actually, about 3 months ago it was possible to switch to the $25/month plan. It wasn't advertised and you had to select "Don't see the plan you're looking for" but it was possible for some customers. I'm not surprised it isn't possible now but it wasn't wishful thinking.
