Im making custom icons.

so far i have customized a few apps, all available if anyone wants them

handcent
-new icon, changed to the red quote box with a peace sign in the center, also the notification icon and the message failed icon were changed to the same.
-new photo for unknown contacts, potleaf with a face on a black background

astro
-new icon, custom made image similar to the finder icon on a mac

dolphin browser
-new icon, red and blue google chrome icon

gallery
-new icon, completely custom, uses a nikon camera in the foreground with a framed picture of weed behind it


if anyone wants something else done or wants any of these for themselves ask and you shall recieve

for apps. in about to install my first creations, handcent with a red icon and 2 dots rather than three, and i changed the default picture the comes up for an unknown contact to a red pot leaf on a black background

after installing it and making sure it works i can post it if anyone wants it. if theres any other app icons that someone has a request to change ill do what i can.
also if theres a specific aspect of an app that you would like changed, a menu color etc...then let me know also and ill do what i can.

For those of us that use Home, we don't have a native Data widget. You think you could make one for us? The Market seems to have a shortage as well. I don't think I can search anymore.

im not actually creating new apps, im just taking the image files inside the original .apk file and editing them. for example i changed the default picture for the unknown contacts in handcent. and i changed the dolphin browser icon to the google chome icon.
i can do any cosmetic change on a pre-existing app that you want, but this is my first venture into the developing world and i dont know how i would even go about creating an app from scratch

I am a freelance graphic designer and would be happy creating new app icons! I can't explain to you how to change the .apk without using a program like BetterCut. I've changed some of my icons and am having fun customizing my Eris. Let me know if there is an icon anyone wants redone and I can send it to you!

bettercut is not needed. if you look at my other post, Handcent_Andrizoidv1, you can see 2 of my apps that i have re-done without bettercut.

Well, the way that I've been doing it is with BetterCut, because I'm not going to go in and edit the apk files because I don't have a clue how to do that. I'm using various professional design programs to create custom icons- and installing them with BetterCut.

icons are only a part of what im doing. im also editing specific aspects of the app, such as the notification icon, i can change pictures on various buttons etc...
i can pretty much graphically change anything that someone requests

yes. when i stared this i bad never even heard of bettercut. it also doesnt require root.

so you already have the icons you would like for the specific apps? how do you have the icons saved? are they image files or what?

Andrizoid, you think you can give this a shot? I would like the HTC message widget to be an opaque black, similar to the music widget seen below. What do you think?

i would but it would be impossible to reinstall. HTC widgets and apps are much more secure, and after editing, they dont accept the re-signing. get ahold of the signing tool that HTC uses and id be happy too

all of the stock/HTC widgets/apps are unchangable. it sucks, i like the stock browser much more than dolphin browser but since its uncustomizable i had to go for the dolphin browser instead. thats one of the main reasons i decided to un helix rather than sense.

if you can find a messaging widget thats available on the market i can see what i can do with that.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought, just being hopeful. I have another messaging app that I used for a bit while in helix, but helix made my phone run like hell.

well you can still use that app while running sense, if you think that the customization aspect would outweigh whatever positives using the sense widget has, then let me know and ill see if i can work some magic on that one for you
