android 4.0 or higher on PREVAIL?

Hey guys, how goes it, Just wondering where the links are to put an android platform such as 4.0 or higher onto a prevail. all the stuff in these threads are awesome by the way.... I read one from back in March, and it said something about the camera not working, What's the status on getting that bug fixed?

Yes, we have 4.0 (ICS) but the cameras do not work, this is because we don't have the proper drivers for it to function. Which doesn't look like it will change any time soon, beyond that the rom is fairly stable

The first step in the process would be to install a custom recovery (clockwork mod recovery) that will allow you to flash unsigned zips.


If you take your time and do some reading in the rooted section, you will find its all very simple.

From what I remember of using this phone anything above 2.3.3 or cm7 will be vary laggy and unstable the prevail isnt strong enough to pull ICS or jb cm7 by hoark13 has been the best ROM this phone has seen as well as blooddawns ct mod and other many more unfortunately my prevails (both of them) stopped working one is hard bricked from trying to port twrp and the other was dropped in a cup of soda) : such a sad way for them to go but there in a better place now *sniff sniff* Lol anyway the drivers for the camera has changed from 2.3.5 in the 4.0 updates Google did this.
I haven't used the prevail in so long I think maybe a lot has changed but I wouldn't get your hopes up I'm happy to know people still use the prevail im using its older brother sg2 let me say kicks ass

I think it is drivers that need to be updated, as far as I can see GB is your best bet for this phone.

I've seen, a website to upgrage the prevail to 3.0 honeycomb, but when i click on the link, it takes me to the galaxy s2 jellybean update...
I was hopping to build one for the prevail, but i can't the cmd on my window vista laptop... any help???

Honeycomb is for tablets only and afikt the source was never released for it... so there is no building it. even less of a chance on a windows machine...

I don't know of any way to build that has a remote chance of actually giving a working output other than on a Mac or Linux

This phone actually has CM9 which, in my experience, runs pretty well other than not having the camera

Can somebody say cmd? Just kidding.

I don't know if this will work on Vista or not but try
WIN +R and see what that'll do. If a box pops up type cmd then hit enter. I never really messed with Vista.

Dude..... I didn't say you didn't know what a cmd was. I was trying to help you open a command Window. Press the damm Win key and R at the same time. That should help you. If a box pops up type in cmd and hit ENTER. That's an easy way to do it if Vista will allow it.

Oh, and FYI.... the cmd comment was meant for Lord Vincent, not you.

If your command prompt in Vista isn't opening, than you got a serious virus/malware problem !! Only viruses or malware/spyware will change systems that command prompt or task mgr or device mgr won't open !!!!

Most all ROM's are build on the Linux platform and not on Mac or Windows......

Hmmm, try Windows Powertoys. I have no idea why in the world it won't open. Powertoys may help you. I've used it on older computers running XP and Vista. Google it and read up on it.

Google search is your friend.... Most likely solution for the not working cmd ( command prompt ) is :

You may want check the registry (check here if you have never edited registry).
Look at the following keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor

Check if there is any "AutoRun" value in either of the key. If so, delete the "AuoRun" value (you may want to export the Command Processor key first to back it up).
