Help Can't access gallery - not enough memory

On my AT & T Galaxy S3

I am getting the message "Not enough memory. Delete some items." When I try to open my Gallery to delete photos and videos, I get the same message as above.

Can someone please tell me how to get access to my Gallery to delete photos? I do not want to delete all my photos en mass if it can be avoided. Thanks!

You might have a look at Settings, Storage ... to see where isn't enough memory available, maybe you have to uninstall or to shove some app for freeing memory.

Id get an SD card and move all your media onto it or move some to a pc. You can delete pics with the My Files app but you wont know what youre deleting so maybe download Samsung Kies to a pc n use that to get a copy of your pics

Easy cheesy. My kids are constantly making videos with my phone and filling up all available space. Go to apps, click on "video player." All of your videos will be listed there. Hit the pop up box in the lower left corner and hit "delete." This will give you the opportunity to click the specific videos you want to delete. Confirm delete by hitting delete at the top. Once you erase enough videos, you will have full access to your gallery.

You may need to wipe the cache partition, do the following:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key at the same time.
3. When the phone vibrates, let go of the buttons.
4. Press the Volume Down key to move to and highlight wipe cache partition.
5. Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache partition.
6. After the wipe is finished, go back up till reboot system now is highlighted and press the Power key to restart the phone.

I have the same problem, can't take photos, access gallery or files on the phone storage.
But I can't believe how genious are all the answers I found on forums, including this forum, except for the last post which is obviously useless.
So what I tried on my old Galaxy S2 is delete system apps I didn't need with Root Uninstaler Pro, format cache and system from mounts/storage menu in CWM, and reflash the firmware.
After formatting the phone storage on the PC, I managed to copy one picture on it(which I couldn't do before), but can't open it on the phone.

Now after I tried all this simple easy cheesy things, I'm waiting for a genious to reply to me that I have to open the camera and delete pictures and videos from there, or that I have to check for available memory. I'm sure I will solve it that way, since the easy things I've done didn't work, but I don't really know all the steps, I'm a bit cheezy at this, I can't wait for a reply so I can finally fix my phone. Whenever I'm pissed off about something, I start to feel so calm and all my worries dissapear when I read these great useful and interesting replies on forums from such smart people who know so well to solve all problems.

Plug it into your computer.

Access the phone and erase the pictures.

is this an internal storage problem or are there just so many downloaded apps on the thing that it's running out of RAM? if i put over 200 plus apps/games on my phone it lags like hell and pop-up memory errors happen and some stock apps won't run at all. only have 5 installed, works perfectly fine. only so much you can squeeze into the dalvik cache.

I had a similar problem.
A message kept coming up, "not enough storage space..."
I had 3.4 GB of videos stored and was unable to open my "Gallery". Also, I was unable use my camera and was unable to delete the unwanted videos that were gunking up my tablet.
Samsung support directed me to do the following.
- Press to open the "Apps" icon on the home page
- Press to open "My Files"
- Press to open "sdcard0"
- Press to open "DCIM"
- Press to open "Camera"
At this point all our photos and videos will be listed.
- Check the box beside the videos you want to delete.
- Press the " trash can" icon at the top of the screen
- And - Poof- those videos are gone
If you delete enough videos and open up enough space your camera and "Gallery" should be operational again

I had the same problems as percifield in the above post but the solution they provided did not work for me.
I was about to give up and factory reset the phone. So to make the phone ready for this I backed-up all the media I had on the phone. Then I decided to try a few things.

What I did first was to open settings\storage and then "Format USB storage"
On the next screen, it says " Erase all USB storage? You will lose all stored data" with a button "Format USB storage"

After hitting the button a message pops up telling me this will erase all media (photos music etc) from the phone.
I proceed and after completing the operation I was able to access the gallery and I could see that it didn't actually delete any photos or music that I had stored but it did fix the problem. So I can now take photos again and remove and add new music to the phone again.

I really hope this helps someone else out there solve a very frustrating problem and stops you from buying a new phone when you don't need to.
