I am still stuck trying to decide how I should buy this phone. I am past my 20 month upgrade and I want to know the best place to get the phone, at the cheapest, and with the best support. Here's the options I have compiled:

-VZW online preorder/delivery
-VZW store on April 29
-Best Buy preorder on April 18?
-Best Buy store on April 29
-Walmart, or other online retailer

The 3 main things I want are a reasonably cheap price (NO MAIL IN REBATE), the best support, and to get the phone on April 29th.

What is the best option? thanks!

No MIR, kicks VZW store out.

so you get
-VZW online, delivered on the 29th (someone MUST be there to sign)
-BB ( all pre-order gets you is a guaranteed phone )
-or Wallyworld

personally I wouldn't buy a phone at wallyworld :p

BB, I honestly don't think places are going to sell out of these the first day so I wouldn't bother with pre-order unless your paranoid. My understanding is for the first 30-day you MUST take it to BB if anything is wrong. Insurance is slightly more at BB 9.99, but no deductible, BUT it doesn't cover loss.

online VZW, you need to wait around for Fedex, anything wrond can be taken to local store, insurance, 6.99 (i think) $89 deduc. BUT includes loss protection.

so to answer your questions
price- I don't think there will be a diff between BB and VZW (atleast not for the first month or so)

service - IMO, I perfer VZW's service but this a personal thing.

get on the 29th, I think you will be able to find it locally at BB, or wait at home for FedEx to show-up -which one wins depend on your normal FedEx delivery times my guys doesn't show up till late :(

My personal plan - The MIR doesn't bother me, so I'll probably pick it up from a Verizon store, mostly likely a Corporate, BUT the local BJ's near me as a authorized seller in it, I "may" try there... ONLY because they open at 9 am and most of the corporate stores near me don't open till 10 am :(

You forgot the part that he is past 20 months so that means he has a NE2 discount as well. From what I hear BB may or may not give it. Plus there is the mention of free activation on the banner on the testman site right now. If Verizon gives that and the NE2 along with instant rebate online for pre-orders it sounds like that is the way to go. It will still be delivered on the 29th and even if you miss FedEx you can go to the office to pick it up before 7PM the same day.

I can't put VZW Asurion on my phone if I get it from BB? What if I take the opened phone to a VZW store, and then add it?

You can, but what if you crash on the way over? I kid :p

I'd call to check, BUT someone in another thread said you can get the VZW insurance right at BB... Although even if you can expect a high pressure sales pitch from BB trying to get you to use their insurance...

I'm not the primary line on our family plan, so the NE2 doesn't factor in. So is BB on the 29th the way to go for me?
