Help Note 2 impractical and too big:(

When I first read the op I chuckled but then thought back to when I had a note 2 and do sympathise. A ten minute play with a phone in a store just doesn't compare to using the phone on a day to day basis. The reason I sold the note 2 was just its size in the hand and the pocket.

Having the extra screen estate was more of a hindrance to me than a benefit in the end. It's still a brilliant phone though, no doubt about that.

To the op, maybe now the s4 is out, it's a good time to sell your note 2. There are some cracking deals on new s3's now, and as everyone is selling their s3 to buy an s4, there are lots on the second hand market so the values should be good. Remembering that at the moment, there are no real confirmed specs of the note 3, the values of the note 2 should still be pretty good.

The s3 is due an update soon and will get most of the new s4 features.

Ps, I sold my note 2 into a Game store for 220. I'm sure I could of got more on eBay but don't like to take the risk of been scammed. You could try gumtree. At least once a week there is someone wanting a second hand note 2. And with gumtree, its sold locally so the buyer can collect and you get cash, so less chance of been scammed etc. you may even get a trade on gumtree, but to an extent when buying, a buyer can be scammed if the handset is then reported stolen etc.

Pps, just looked at amazon etc,

I didn't really want to post this, but people have been so helpful so...
My chances of selling it have gone. A water bottle in my bag some how wasn't tightened and it..well it went every where in my bad and my GN2.
Not only did it get right in to where the battery, so much so that the white sticker behind the battery on the phones- has come off a little. Even when I removed the sim card I had to shake off tiny drops of water off it. That's how bad the water damage is. Not only is the water damage so bad, my class was about to start so I had to dry it quickly. I didn't switch it on until a few hours later once I dried everything with tissue. But the damage is done, now theres pink and blue lines when the phone is on, power button doesn't work and its has a bunch of multicolored lines on the notification screen..
I definitely checked that the bottle was closed, I even put my phone in a separate compartment. the fact that I knew I wanted to sell, made me more cautious than when I first brought it. So please if anyone wants to judge or just be rude, I wont even bother replying as I'm really upset.Yes, I know it was my fault, it was a stupid mistake, really, really stupid to not double check that top was properly screwed on.
No one can even say about 'appreciating things while you have it' because I do appreciate the things I have, I also said so many times that I do think the phone is good, just that the screen is too big. That was basically my complaint about the phone and that I didnt think the amount of money I had to pay was worth it for a phon I couldnt use properly. Now I will have to send it in to repair, I pray to God Im not charged because well, it is water damage.. Even though its only a few months old, water damage is always seen as the customers problem -even if they know it was their fault etc doesn't matter how much money you've poured in to it. My mother once got water damaged in her phone, granted it wasnt under guarantee but they said they couldn't fix it and she had to take it to another place to be repaired...
I dont want to argue especially with posters giving me prices over

I'm so sorry that happened but all is not lost yet. Remove the battery and place the phone inside a container of dry rice....please don't cook the rice. :)

You may have to leave it there for a few days so as much water/moisture can dry up.

Please know my post is not a joke. You can also Google wet phone dry rice. I don't know if the lines you see will be permanent or not so definitely let us know what happens after a few days.

Just take out battery and any cards (SIM, micro SD) and the S-pen. Then wrap your phone in some kitchen tissue and put it in a zip sealed bag with lots of rice and leave it to dry for at least 48 hours in a warm place. The rice should absorb all the moist. Chances are your phone will work perfectly again.

Good luck!

This works. My cousin washed his droid 2, yes went through the whole wash cycle then a lil in the dryer till he heard it banging around. He removed the battery and put it in white rice over night and then the next day turned it out. It had a spot on the screen but over the next week the dot faded out and it still works today. Good luck, hey its better than me I was trying to root my S3 that I have laying around and I bricked it :banghead: now I have to pay $100 to fix it and wait a week

Personally, i think the Note 2 is too SMALL for my tastes now. Were they to make the Note 3/4 in a 6 inch variant, I'd be all over that one. All other phones compared to my Note 3 look tiny. Now, the Note 2 looks tiny to me as well. I think 6 inches would be the perfect sweet spot for me. Others probably might not agree but I think the 6 inch, maybe 6.5 inch would be great :D

lol @ the posts about bigger screens. I do get it because now I'm forced to use my HTC again...it literally feels like a toy in my hand lol. But I prefer the S3 size. The button on S3 is really annoying coming from the Note 2, its literally half the size of the Note 2. Again , everything is amazing on the GN2 :) ..but the screen lol.
I rang Three (mobile company ), the sales adviser said water damage is not covered by them.I even took it to a Three store, but they told me they don't cover water damage. So I'll see what happens when they take it in to repair. GN2 is still 'drying' up in the rice, so hopefully it will dry because 1 by 1 everything has stopped working.

What's interesting I'm finding is that as time goes on, I'm finding the note 2 size seems smaller and smaller to almost a normal phone size again like the s2, evo or an iPhone. But I bet if I pick up my s2 from two weeks ago, it will appear and feel like a tiny phone.
Anyone else get this? The first day or so you were in awe on how large it was but it wares off quickly...

Totally agree with Spike. I recently saw a youtube video of the 6.3 inch Galaxy Mega and thought wow, I can handle that.

Just hoping that Sammy does make the Note 3 either in a 6" or 6.3" and throws the most up to date goodness in it, high def screen etc etc

I would like a better camera for indoor shots, a small dedicated camera button and a much improved audio system.

If the Note 3 comes fully loaded with my wish list....this will definitely be my xmas prezzie to myself:D

The size wore off in a week or 2. Thats the problem with "professional reviews" they base the whole review on 1 days use.

Regarding size, since having my Note 2 all other phones look like a child's toy. Surprised anyone can even use them! Hope you manage to solve your woes.

This is my experience as well. I am a woman, 5'6", small/average build. I am still hopelessly in love with my Note 2 (came from an iPhone 4S) and would not trade it for anything at this point. My husband came from the iPhone 4, is 6'1" and is a big guy. He thinks the Note 2 is a touch big for him. You'd think the situation would be reversed, given our sizes! He thinks he would have been happier with the S4, simply for size reasons. I guess he gets ticked at the Facebook app as well, but I don't because I just use it on Dolphin.

Anyway, to each their own, for sure. I could never go back to a small phone like the iPhone, nor could I return to those restrictions. I hear the iPhone 6 is coming out or something, but I don't care. I am so happy with this phone and use it all of the time.

That said, each person should evaluate his or her own needs and try to get what works best for them. I never would have thought my husband would think the phone was too big if I didn't, but I was wrong!

This ^ ;) very much so. I even get ticked off at reviewers, male and female alike, who make remarks about device size as if the user's hand size (or even gender ) will play "make or break" into their purchasing choices. It could with some users, but we all know that there are many others factors to consider.

Maybe some of those reviewers are shocked when they see a woman driving a nice big SUV or riding a Harley. :D

I'm 6ft about 215lb and I like the note 2 but the one thing that is awkward with the note 2 is putting it in my jeans pocket. They just don't make the pockets big enough lol. Thank goodness it's summer time and I can wear cargo shorts lol

I normally carry my phone in my inside coat pocket (I am in the UK where its necessary to wear a warm coat all year) and I wish coat makers would make at least one pocket which was a good fit for phones assuming the GN2 as the maximum size.

Whenever I read jean pockets being too small I ask myself what kind of jeans are people wearing. I saw a few YouTube reviews in which the guys would stick the Note 2 in their pockets to show its doable yet, for lack of a better word, the phone looked weird in their pocket.

All my jeans have deep wide pockets. I never have to worry about my phone sliding out of it. Now what makes me cringe is when I see people with their phones in their back pocket. Phones weren't made to support our behinds.
