Help setup EVERYTHING to run off wifi?

Mine has done that automatically out of the box, so long as the wifi tag is green, when your in range all data runs through wifi, if your not it switches to 3g, ive never had to turn of mobile date, i know its going through wifi as i use 3g watchdog to monitor my usage as a guide, and it clock 3+gb data through wifi and on average 800mb through 3g

I was only recently able to make use of the auto-connect feature/had internet installed where I'm vacationing, but since then, (day before yesterday), it's seems that my phone's used about 200Mb of my mobile data plan. (when I've not left or had any ISP outages) Because of such & the feature's wording, ("when launching high-data usage applications.."), I'm assuming it's still running little background stuff off my 2Gb mobile plan. That being said, I am sharing data with another family member, though she rarely uses it.

Can you/anybody remind me.. when sharing a plan, does your used data show up as light green or dark green, on the used data bar in data details? It's possible I'm looking @ her usage, though don't believe that to be the case..

I dont have shared data myself but what yo could do is install 3g watchdog on both phones https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog&hl=en it monitors what data thephone its installed on has used in both mobile data and wifi, it will also show you what application has used what amount of data. that way you should be able to see where the data is being used, and on what across both handsets.

I am surprised that it is stating that high data usage applications will be ran through mobile data, normally its the other way around, it will run through wifi, if wifi is on then all data should run through that, is it something specific to your carrier ???

You misunderstood me.. I meant that the way it's worded, high-data usage stuff does go through wifi when available, but not necessarily low data. That's allegedly only when wifi is off, but I have my doubts due to below.

Having watched the My Verizon app, (which seems to come pre-installed on their S4's right now), I stand by what I originally said, (regarding everything not running through wifi), as well as am not sure it's very trustworthy either. Reason being, last night looking at my phone it showed I'd used about 1/4 of the data this pay cycle & the other phone had used the rest. Looking at the same app on the other phone at the same time, it showed a 50/50 split of data usage between the two phones. Again, that number continues to slowly climb, even though both phones have been in constant range of wifi the last 2 days & are set to use it when in range, heh. (though settings-data usage does show most data running through wifi) I guess I'll have to resort to 3rd party apps and/or simply turn mobile data off when I want to be sure not to use it. Thanks for the suggestions guys, once I have time I'll have to check them out.
