hi there.

i have a mt3g le (1.6, natch), and i have never, ever, received update notifications. as a matter of fact, i didn't even know that there was such a thing, until i griped about it to a friend who has a g1 (1.6), and explained that he gets an icon on the notification bar when there are updates available. (i always have gone to market>downloads to see my updates).

so, i went through all my settings to see if maybe that notifier was turned off by default. but, i see no such setting.

can anyone advise?

thx!

Do you use a task killer app? If you do put market in the ignore list.

go to menu > settings > data synchrinization > and check that background data is selected cause if it isn't, it won't be checking for any updates

i turn mine off to help on battery life and just turn it on once a week
thanks for the tip. my bg syncing was and is on, so i'll just have to wait for an update, and see if the task manager was the culprit.

i dunno...my understanding of froyo was that it was google's way to eliminate the disparity of versions out there. the way i understood it: 2.2 and beyond would update the core os only and would not not update phone specific modules. that part would be up to us users, and supposedly those modules would exist in the market.

i dunno. that's what i heard, anyways.
