Where to find 16GB micro sd card?

First, why class 6? Thats usually reserved for (hd) video recording. Thats why you can't easily find one in the 16GB Micro flavor. (In fact I'd be kinda suspicious of the ebay sellers that claim class 6 without some verification)

Class 2 is just fine for cellphones.

I bought a 16GB class 2 Microsd from Microcenter for a decent price.

Oh, wow...I had no idea =P

I just figured the higher the class, the faster the card. Is a class 4 alright for a smartphone?

Thank you!

Your right, the higher the class, the faster the card is.

The following are the ratings of some currently available cards:

  • Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MByte/s)
  • Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MByte/s)
  • Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MByte/s)
  • Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MByte/s)

You can get a class 4 if you want to pay the premium for it. If you buy it from Bestbuy, Target, etc... their likely going to be class 2s.

The only noticeable difference in getting a class 4 over a 2, (in the case of a smartphone) is it's going to be a bit faster when filling it up (the sdcard) with music.

Thank you for your help! =]

This is what *I* bought

Micro Center - 16GB Micro SDHC Card

If you want cheap, I'm sure you can find a ton of them on ebay, you'll find legit sellers as long as your looking for class 2s. When you get it, try running a check disk on it to find out exactly it is you bought. (peace of mind, totally optional)

thank you!

Hey Chroma, I live about 20 minutes from a Microcenter and have been interested in getting one of these but don't feel like making the trek if its just a class 2. So what exactly does Microcenter sell if you have already received yours?

Whats up with class 2 hatred? 2MB/s, how many times do you pull up a file 2MB in size that you need in less than a second? (on your smartphone)

Microcenter has everything computer related. I built my new gaming computer from scratch there last x-mas. Mine is a bigger store. Mine also has a dedicated entertainment section, Apple section, gaming section, and book section.

This is going to sound like a dumb Microcenter endorsement, but only because I really like the place.

Don't get me wrong, I love Microcenter as well, I bought a core i7 920 for $200 a month after it came out. But I figured since you bought the card already you would be able to do some quick tests on the speed of the generics they sell. If they are able to achieve real word read/write speeds that are much higher then it really doesn't matter what class it is, as that is just a batch rating on parts minimum. But if the speeds clock close to the 2MB/s then it usually means that the class 2 is not just conservative but well deserved.

i baught the 4gb sd card from wirelessgrounds.com, it came preety fast, and this website usually has good customer service, you can try looking there for it, or if that doesnt work just google it im sure youll find tons of website that should have it.

I found a sandisk 16gb micro sd class 4 on ebay for $75+ free shipping and the seller had pretty good ratings.
