Realtime Traffic & Speed Cams

A very cool-looking app (downloaded just now on 16-March), but on startup it has placed me and my Droid Eris (Android 1.5) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Google Maps correctly places me in Bethesda, MD.

All 3 checkboxes are checked in my Location Settings for "Use wireless networks", "Location Setting" and "Enable GPS Satellites"

Hi jae_63,

By Default, Google Maps locates you in Tulsa (Google developpement labs) if your location can not be found.

Can you tell me if the GPS icon is blinking or not? If it's not blinking, it means the GPS signal is good so press the round icon between the zoom in and zoom out icons to force the map to be centred on your location. After than you may not need to do it again.
If you are not driving with my app it's a normal behaviour even if I do agree it could be strange.

I'll try to fix this on the next releases. Thanks for your feedback.

Looking forward to see how it handles Rhode Island.

The GPS icon was blinking, but pressing on the round icon did the trick. I thought that I had tried this previously (I have subsequently uninstalled and reinstalled your app).

Thanks for the quick help!

Duh. That is a way of saying, there is already a WIDELY accepted app across multiple platforms that does mostly what this does called Trapster.

No it's a polite way to say "This tread is not about Trapster" and Trapster does not provide the following services:

- No registration required (everything is anonymous)
- Crowdsourced Traffic Info (tell the other user how traffic conditions were when you drove somewhere)
- Instant speed
- Average speed
- Logged users arround you
- Trip management
- Export and share your trips by mail, Google Earth and Google maps
- Nigth/Day mode
- Biker mode
- etc...

I confess I haven't tried this app yet.

I have tried Trapster and it's annoying. It sends me an email every day saying there are updated traffic cams and speed traps - why can't it just send an update direct to my phone so i don't have to sync it to update it?

As for traffic, I just use Google which also does navigation - why add another program? just add any other features as another layer to Google that can be toggled on and off, like Latitude

Hi TambourineMan,

The idea of my app is to have everything in one app as opening several apps uses a lot of memory.

The "plus" of my app is the Traffic Info comming from users. Indeed, while driving with my app you send your position and speed to my server so I can create my own Traffic Info layers to places where Google hasn't any Traffic Info (very usefull when main street are very busy).

Off course I hadded several features any other app doesn't include like trip sharing (look how I went back home to avoid bad traffic conditions), biker mode (they need large display) and so on ...

I have now tried this app.

I hadn't tried it before because I thought it only pulled in traffic information from other users and and even though I am in a densely populated region (Boston) I could not imagine that there would be enough users yet to get sufficient traffic info.

But it seemed to have full traffic info similar to what I get from Google of Live maps. Duh, I now see there is a setting to allow both Google traffic and collaborative info.

What does the "50" button do?

When it says "Eco" what does that mean? And why does the color change form green to yellow to red?

Is there any way to change it to show mph, rather than Km/H?
