Help G1 from Germany, hardware differences ?

I got my G1 from Ebay. Its a phone from Germany (key board is QWERTZ)

I noticed that the call and end buttons are not red and green, but they are just white color. It's strange because all the G1 pictures I have seen had those colors. Are the phones in Germany this way ?

Also Is there any way to find out how my phone was unlocked ? They said that it was unlocked, but i dont know how ?

Try another carrier's sim card ... and see if you get phone service ... yes = unlocked

I dont know that there is a way to tell the exact method of unlock ...

But why is it important to know ... as long as you are unlocked ... isnt that what is important ... ???

Well I was under the impression that new firmware upgrades could lock the phone again if it was unlocked with force as opposed to using an unlock code.

Seeing your reply, I feel that its not the case... ?
