Why are Verizon employees so dishonest?

I went to my local store today to see if they had any of the phone in stock, and the rep said "we don't know when we'll get more".

LOL. They don't know? So Verizon managers has no control over their inventory and when they need more of a product? Bullshit. How did they even know they would carry the phone in their store in the first place? I mean they "didn't know" if they were getting them, right?

Then he said that if I ordered the phone through them, it would ship to the store in a couple days where I could pick it up. But wait...doesn't it say on VZW's site that the phone is still backordered until 5/29? How are they going to get any?

Commission-salary employees are almost always dishonest. Sigh...

i can see how they dont know, i mean every store is probably low or OOS. You think VZW/HTC can stock every store at once again, probably not.

And there are tons of reports of people ordering online with the "backordered" message and still having them show up within 3-4 days.

So i would say that its very hard to pinpoint when anyone will get their phone

1. Probably because they really don't know. Their Verizon CSR's--not CEOs.

2. Even IF the manager knows, they probably will keep that on the down low, rather than "leaking" info and getting known as a store that can't keep a secret.

3. My guess is, you went in "with info you saw on androidforums.com and a guy on there said....." which probably ticked the CSR off.

Local corporate store managers may have no control over their inventory. It's a centralized system, so it may well be out if their hands. He may be able to order a ship-to-store for a customer, but not order inventory to stock his shelves. As for the timing, who knows.

Not saying that this is how it is, but it's plausable.

Was it an authorized corporate store or a 3rd party store?

Regardless, if you were a Verizon retail sales rep, you would probably be an *** too ;p.

I'd rather clean up pig poop all day than harass customers that just bug you off because they just want to look at the phone and then get their instant discount from Verizon Online or Best Buy instead.

Verizon corporate treats them like garbage so it's hard to expect them to treat us well.

Go in with a grain of salt. It's a miserable job they have.

Yes, it's obvious from this thread you're a polite, well-spoken, courteous consumer. Maybe you just got the wrong one who was having a bad day--that happens too.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps he went in with a bad attitude and the manager waited for him to leave before telling the next customer "yea, I have a few in stock".:)

My brother wanted a DI the other day after playing around w/ mine. He went to the Vz Corp store where they told him it'd be a 3 week wait to get one. They also said he (and i quote) "will not find anyone in town who has one so he better order from them to ensure he gets it by the 3 week date"

I called the BestBuy down the road from Me, they had a few in stock. Had them hold one and we went to pick one up for him the same day.

He then needed a 2nd usb/micro data cable to run thru his Truck for charging from his stereo. I told him I just got one from the Vz store near me (not sure if it is a corp store or just has Vz name). It doesn't say for Incredible on it but has a few other phones listed. He went to his Corp Vz store again to try and get it (w/ part # in hand) and they told him there were not any usb/micro data cables made nor usable with the DI out yet. So I went back to the Vz store near me and picked him up the same one I had gotten a week before.

So yeah, some Vz corp stores (not all) are full of R'***** or just really really clueless people.

No...I went in to ask if they had the Incredible in stock...and then he gave me this bullshit story.

Care to enlighten us with this story? The only part you posted was: and the rep said "we don't know when we'll get more". which is probably accurate.

They just log how many they sold, over how much time, and how many people have ordered one. Then a central database, far away takes in the information from each store and decides how many, and when each store will get. Until the stores turn comes up to have a shipment sent their way, they don't know.

I see nothing in "we don't know when we'll get more" to make them an ass. Sure, he didn't say "Sorry, but we don't know when we will get more at this time.", but that just would have made him courteous.

So, clearly you had to leave something important out...

Oh, PS: The site does not say they are sold out UNTIL the 29 or whatever it is atm...it says you will receive your phone BY then. IE You could order it and have someone immediately knock on your door with your phone in hand...that was BY the date mentioned, and therefore accurate.

The VZW stores I've visited have all been staffed by nice, helpful salespeople.

Last week I went to get my Incredible and they were out, the salesperson told me that they only received a few and sold them all pretty quickly. I frowned (and perhaps it helps that I'm a chick? I don't know :) ) and the salesperson said he could make some calls and get me one later in the day if I was willing to put down a deposit.

That evening I had the phone. So happy :D

They are nice and helpful I agree. The ones I run into all just want me to buy something right away at the same time though.

Some say they don't work on commission - I guess I doubt that because the nice lady that was helping me: as I said "ok I'll come back another time I have to do some research", gave me her card and politely asked me to make sure I buy from her..

When you tell them thanks, I'm going to look at the phones now, another rep immediately jumps on you. It's like dude.. are you blind? Did you not see me with your colleague for 30 minutes?

:D

order online. you dont have to deal with mail in rebate. its instant. no store employees, kids running around in a store of customers making it sweaty hot.
of course, if you dont mind doing the mail in rebate, call customer care.

save the gas, pressure, and sanity.

its worth it for this phone.

Is it standard to get a 2gb card with your phone?
The rep I was talking to said he would throw one in since there is a wait on the phone.

More or less yes. They aren't a standard package deal, but they have tons of the 2gig and they are extremely cheap, so they love to hand them out for every little thing to make you feel like you got a special deal:)

So my wife to be who owns a small company was able to get her VZW rep to find a DI for me. It showed up yesterday and I went to a corp store near her office to get the number moved from my OZONE to the DI. You would have thought I brought in a bar of gold. All 3 reps were in a state of shock that I actually had a DI. It was pretty funny honestly and the "20 questions" routine about how I got the phone was really funny. They told me that they have sold out of them now twice. None of them thought they would see anymore until the 1st of June. They also didn't know anything about the LG Ally that splashed the techie sites this morning and has been rumored for a couple of weeks...

Take it with a grain of salt, the VZW rep for my wife found 1 in one days time and I had it in my hands two days later. There are people in the "know" at VZW, the trick is finding them

Why do you post with such vulgar language and hostility. I've been subscribed to this forum for about a month and I am involved in other forums for some other interests and hobbies that I do and I don't see such childish vulgar posts as I see on here. I can assure you that not all Verizon employees are not what you described. In defense of these employees, they are just as human as you are and they don't make very much money. My son worked for Celluar One for two yrs. These employees come and go with great frequency. They are not adequatley trained, except to only to sell phones. I am sure that your feelings about the ones you dealt with feel the same about you!! Are you an A#@ H#@e. Probably sometimes. I can be sometimes to. But to get on here and express your feelings in this way serves no purpose and makes this forum less enjoyable for others like me to even to want to view this forum. So to be blunt about this "Grow Up"!! And learn to express yourself and your feelings about your experiences with a little more maturity! And by the way, What makes you so special that you can degrade sub salary employees who are improperly trained and out to make a buck in a lousy economy?

Go ahead and flame me, I'm a big boy!

I used to work for VZW. As a salesman, we didnt know when products were going to be received in the store. We would know ONE day before the product was going to be delivered to the store. Also, if you were in charge of a company, and you had to fill orders, your duty would be to fill those to the people that already paid for their items, so you would ship them out to the online/instore orders before you ship to the stores. It only makes sense. They are AUTO replinishment shipments that you do not control. EX. If you have a company that has 100 stores and you have a high demand for something, your first order is usually a small order, lets say 15 of an item. As soon as you get enough of those to ship out 15 to each store, you release them to the public. So the warehouse churns out the last item and you sell the the next day. it takes them weeks to come up with enough product to ship enough back out to all 100 stores. In this case the numbers are all GREATLY inflated.

Yea, you really can't blame the employees. They have no idea when these things are coming in. There just doing there job at this point in time. HTC is more to blame, then a Verizon employee as to why there are not enough to go around. In this day and age there should be plenty to go around to anyone who wants one.
