I like mine, nothing is perfect, and if you wait for the perfect product, you'll be waiting forever. (though to be truthful, I waited until something like the Droid came out without a physical keyboard - which I thought would be the Nexus on Verizion, but then the Incredible came out).

I like my phone and plan on keeping it.

So far I have zero desire to return it. I see no indication of an unfinished product. In fact I'm curious as to what seems unfinished about to you it as I can't think of a single item that feels unfinished to me. I admit the battery life sucks but that was obviously a business decision and doesn't reflect the build or design in my opinion.

Not sure what you think will actually live up to your expectations other than the iphone. You have to decide what is more important to you: more polish with restrictions and outdated hardware or less polish with more freedom of choice and cutting edge features.

Threads like this really bring a ton of questions to mind. Like "what finished product are you comparing to".

Is there really such a thing as a "finished product"? When IPhone came out it was "unfinished" because of the lack of multi tasking. When Blackberries started going more mainstream it was "unfinished" because of its browser. When WinMo phones started becoming popular it was "unfinished" because of its older and clunky UI. And now that Android phones are becoming popular people are finding various things to declare the product as unfinished.

Until the android developers come out and say "guess what, no more android updates, android is 100% finished, enjoy" i dont think you should head into ANY android based device with the mindset of it being a finished product. We are promised updates, patches, fixes to help make our software become more reliable ... but asking for it to become a "finished" product is as viable as asking to freeze time.

This is in no way directed to the OP, but mainly to the people who complain about their phones not living up to the hype in general. Spend some time and go to iphone forums, and go to blackberry forums, and go to winmo forums and research the issues they are having and i guaruntee you, you will look at your phone and say "oh..ok...well i guess this phone isn't as bad as i thought it was".

You should have had the Storm then. You wouldn't be feeling this way at all...

The only way I'd return mine is if there was a glaring flaw in the product.

No, the screen isn't 3 inches thick and able to sustain a multi-story fall. No, display isn't 7 inches and 64 million colors. No, it doesn't have a 10,000mAh battery that lets me use it for a week without a charge. No, it's not running Windows 7 on 64 gigs of internal storage. Does that mean I'm not satisfied? No, not in the least.

This phone cannot possibly live up to the expectations that this forum had for it. This isn't a Jesus phone. It is the most power Android device on the best covered network in the US. I waited nearly 6 months for this phone. I was due for an upgrade in the first part of November, but the Eris was too slow and the Droid was too much of a brick for me to pull the trigger then. I caught wind of the Incredible (Dragon/Passion/Bravo/Whatever) and decided to wait until it finally showed up. And show up it has.

This may not be the best phone to ever come to market and it may not be the most feature rich phone available, but both Google and HTC have a hell of a product on their hands. The Sense experience is amazing and something I expect from an HTC product, while Android offers a level of customization that few other mobile OSs can touch.

What could you possibly replace this device with?

i`ve been with winmo since 2002 and got my first android last year, the htc eris. this phone is all the good of those phone wrapped into one device with added benefits.

thought of taking it back hasn't even crossed my mind. the incredible has done everything i have asked of it and alot of things i didn't even ask. about the only semi-negative i have encountered on the phone would be the battery, when i really hammer the phone's data usage i can drain the battery by about 8pm but that can be remedied by me getting off my butt and ordering the 1750 battery since all i seem to need is that extra few percent. everything else i have encountered that would be a negative was me just not knowing how to set something up in the phone propery (because it is so custamizable) and a little playing around i find the answer.

i don't know what phone you would think of going to, coming from windows mobile/blackberry phones with work and having alot of friends with iphones i can tell you the incredible is superior to all of them, there is however a sharper learning curve with android than the iphone but once you get over that the iphone can't compete. and the iphone 4 coming out will finally start doing more that the incredible is already doing today.

I don't understand what people were expecting from this phone. I wonder how many "issues" people are having are due to user error (and no, rossmathis, this comment is not directed at you).

I mean, the phone is a beast, but it's still....wait for it....a PHONE. People seem to be expecting it to operate as if it's a gaming laptop.

And what exactly are the major issues people are having? It has a couple quirks that I'm sure will be corrected with a combination of another update or two plus froyo which is not far off.

The hardware is fantastic. It's not a basketball. Don't bounce it off the pavement, and you won't have any hardware issues.

I personally LOVE my Incredible. The thing is fantastic. FAR better than anything else available if you weigh out all the pros/cons, especially if you're someone who is at least somewhat tech savvy. If not, return it and enjoy your iPhone.

Please name a single phone that didn't have something that didn't seem rushed or unfinished. My last phone, LG Chocolate 3, wouldn't immediately connect a call when it was flipped open. How long have they been making flip phones?

BS- Do not hold the phone's name against it. They have to name it SOMETHING. By virtue of it having the best specs of any phone on the market right now could very well mean it is "Incredible".

As far as returning- Thanks for wasting my money. Verizon invariably loses money on returned phones that have nothing wrong with them, since they can't sell them as new. Verizon will pass that along to its customers for that entitlement.

The reasons you listed for not liking the phone are subjective, intangible, and bordering on foolish.

I went from iphone to MotoDroid to DINC. Haven't looked back, gets better and with all the Froyo announcements, looking even better.

I think some are being a little hard on the OP. I will be the first to admit I've had the thought run through my head a couple times. Then I come back to my senses and realize what I'm holding in comparison to every other phone I've had. Like I've said before, being on the cutting edge can be a real PIA at times. Sometimes just have to regroup and realize that minor inconsitencies will be worked out given a little time. Takes awhile to shore up little bugs on a new phone, particularly one that came right out of the gate with a pretty new OS build.

So this is what I mean by unfinished:

The Google-based applications aren't entirely synced. This is an Android (Google) phone and you mean to tell me something as simple as updating profile pictures to reflect the actual ones isn't working properly. i.e. Latitude and Talk don't have updated photos, just the first photo that was dumped in.

A lot of applications force close for no apparent reason. The phantom swipe. The phone isn't optimized for efficient power consumption (battery sucks). The phone will sometimes turn off, or reboot for whatever reason.

It's nice having open source development, but when you have no restrictions your basically using a dev phone, hence the unfinished product.

I'm not knocking the phone, just explaining my definition behind 'unfinished'. The phone's specs look legit, so only thing I could assume is the OS is still a work in progress.

You can state your reasons for keeping the phone but let's not go overboard here ... it's just a phone! (and I personally think the name, Incredible, was a poor choice, just my 2 cents)
