I'm having crappy reception (like most people) with -100db reception so I was wondering if I might try hybrid prl to see if that helps. Can I make the change to hybrid or do I have call or go to a vzw store?

Also, how do I access the Inc's service menu?

Thanks

Just call verizon customer service and they can have the hybrid prl pushed to your phone. If you do *228 afterward it will remove it though.

I think the guy that answered earlier posted the number wrong... it's actually *#*#4636#*#*... you can change the prl in that menu.. and you can also dial ##PROGRAM (or ##7764726) to take you in to the phone programming menu

Reception and call quality on the Incredible is some of the worst I have ever experienced. Almost made me feel like I wasn't even on the Verizon network thats how poor it is... Not to mention typing in an online forum with the Incredible produces a horrific keyboard lag...:(

Hybrid PRL allows the use of other towers in certain areas. For example, I live in Green Bay and have no issues making and receiving calls in my home. I also have a home in Fort Myers FL and have always had trouble making and receiving calls in my home there (this has nothing to do with the Incredible as it happens with other phones). When Verizon pushed the hybrid list, it allowed me to access some towers that may have been part of the Alltell network, and it added one bar to the signal on my Ozone, and that was the difference. I could then easily do a call and not have it drop. Hope that helps.

What are you smokin lol? My kb doesn't lag, and that would have nothing to do with network speed or reception.

I too was experiencing terrible signal problems. I dropped two calls yesterday and I've NEVER dropped a single call in my 3-4 years with VZW. I looked in my phone status and my signal was a -101 which apparently isn't good. Anyways I found a site that has the newest PRL and another site with how to install. With this new PRL installed, my signal is now -91!!!!

First go to this site: HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - Newest 650XX Hybrid PRL and find the post from 5/10/10 that has two zip files. Download the 65133 zip and unzip it. You'll find an RLA file in there. Copy the RLA to the root of your SD card. Then dial ##778 and send. You'll get a popup to view or edit. Hit edit. A password prompt comes up and your password is 000000 (six zeroes). Then scroll down to PRL and hit update PRL. It'll take a few seconds for the screen to change. When it does select for it to find all files and scroll down to the 65133 file and hit okay. Then you'll be back at the previous menu. You aren't done yet though. You have to hit the MENU key and select commit. Your phone will update and restart. Congrats you have updated your PRL!

To help others it may be beneficial to go to your phone settings BEFORE you update and post your before signal and then after the update go in again and post your after signal. If this was helpful please thank me! :D

FYI, I tried downloading the zip files using IE and they were corrupt. Worked fine with Mozilla Firefox. No idea why. Thanks for PRL file link.

No Change for me. But I don't have any Alltel towers near me.

Original PRL 51866: -93
New PRL 65133: -93

Here is a map of the Alltel coverage areas. If you don't live or travel in these areas, the Hybrid PRL update will not be beneficial:

Note: Doing *228 will overwrite the manually installed PRL to the regular VZW PRL in your area (restore your PRL).

It's not newer. It uses the Alltel towers in addition to the Verizon towers. Please read the thread and look at the map. It will do nothing for you unless you are near an Alltel area - see map: Flashing the VZW/Alltel Hybrid PRL( Helps a lot for some !) - xda-developers

Ok so since I live in Oregon and do not plan on travelling to the mid west I have no need for the alltell prl.... thanks anyway it was a good try!

New question, should I *228 back to my original prl or does it not matter at all?
