Who really cares what the packaging looks like? It's something you admire for five minutes and then put aside to play with the device inside...must be a slow day on Engadget

i have no problem with the packaging.

1. it looks different which is cool
2. they could give me an evo in A BROWN PAPER SACK and i would be as happy as a school boy who got a puppy on christmas morning....

Yeah, I agree too. Packaging is not a big deal to me.

I like how a few places (blogs) have shown part of the packaging but nothing else, hehe...that and no one who has seen or has the evo now, doesn't know what class the micro sd card is that comes with the evo.

It looks like they are making a big deal out of having recycled packaging, further evidence of the higher EVOlutionary plane it exists on. I like this better than the trend a few years ago where phones came in elaborate boxes. The Tmobile Shadow box was so heavy you thought it was protecting a vial of the bubonic plague. I felt the need to keep the box even after I ditched the Shadow after three months for the G1.

Thats kind of like the box I got with my original HTC Touch. Nice ass box with a ton of extra crap in it.

I still have the box. Its black. The lid folds over the side and is magnetized to stay shut.

Yeah, the Instinct had a pretty eleaborate box. The Pre's was minimal but visually appealing. I'll be recycling the box anyway so I too don't particularly care what the box looks like.

It's a cute and different packaging(better than the standard box)

My kin two's packaging was very unique...it reminded me of futuristic tubes with phones inside.
I like the look of the evos packaging

And I like it. Looks like a big, deformed table with rounded edges. Personally, I'm not for HTC EVO (wait, stop with those knives and bullets), seems like a great device but isn't it too features-packed to run smoothly? Also, screen of that size would be perfect for browsing documents, editing them or surfing the web. But it has Android on the board, which, as far as my opinion is concerned, seems to be an operative system for young people, because it's full of various multimedia. Just like the iPhone OS - good in games, movies music but weak in business.

I don't care what the packaging looks like either. As long as I have my phone, it can come in no box and I'll be happy. Plus the box is just going to be thrown up in the top of my closet anyways.

In the grand scheme it may mean little to us, but a cool box should be part of the marketing for a new device like this..

This is Sprint flag ship device and it comes in a Ramen noodles box with limited info printed on it wtf??

I just went and looked at our last 15 Sprint phone boxes and they have all been a cooler looking black box..

If that is the actual box I will leave it on the counter with The rep when I take the phone and charger out of it..

I really hope it is a mock up...

I have to say, the box is kinda funky, not sure how i feel about the 'Pantry' design elements. when i got my nexus, the box was awesome and was an 'event' when i opened it, this looks more like hangover food after i get beat up at the borgata.

Engadget can run as many stories as they want on the box - just means the Evo gets some more front page time.

In my highschool orchestra our conductor would say that when the only thing left to clean up is the small stuff then you are in a good place. If the box is the only thing they can be critical about then I'd say the Evo is in a pretty damn good place.

I hope we got the boxes that eieio is talking about. I don't really care about the box, but a pretty box can help sales, if only by a little bit. Also, I'd like to have a nice box to add to my collection of boxes of technology that I've owned .

It's not like being at a WalMart where you grab the box and go to the register.
